Our organization seeks a highly qualified and experienced Second in Command (SIC) to join our flight operations team. The SIC will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of all assigned flight duties in accordance with FAR Part 135 regulations and established company procedures. This position requires a collaborative spirit and the ability to support the Pilot in Command (PIC) while exercising operational control at Tier 2, as detailed in Chapter 5 of the General Operations Manual. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional professional judgment and a steadfast commitment to safety.
The position operates on a rotating 7-day on/7-day off duty schedule. Pilots work 12-hour shifts (or up to the maximum allowed under Part 135 when on mission), commencing from their home base. Strict adherence to call-out times is essential to ensure timely mission launches. Shift assignments (day or night) are scheduled monthly by the Base Lead Pilot, affording pilots ample time for rest cycle planning. Consistent day/night shift assignments are maintained throughout the 7-day on-duty period, with changes only occurring due to operational necessity.
