Air Transport International (ATI) is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aviation Ground School Instructor to join its esteemed Flight Operations Training team in Wilmington, OH. This critical role is centered on the design, development, and delivery of comprehensive ground school training programs tailored for pilots and other designated groups within Flight Operations.
Role Summary
The Ground School Instructor holds a pivotal position in ensuring all training adheres to ATI’s rigorous standards, while objectively measuring student progress within the established curriculum. This individual will significantly contribute to fostering a positive, professional, and effective learning environment, thereby continuously enhancing ATI's acclaimed training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust curriculum, learning materials, and performance support tools, including self-study modules, traditional classroom instruction, web-based content, training videos, and virtual training designs, all in accordance with industry design standards for various modalities.
- Provide high-quality ground school instruction to pilots and other designated groups in Flight Operations, skillfully integrating scenario-based training whenever possible, to cover both required and company-selected elements.
- Conduct continuous evaluation of student progress and performance, proactively addressing any issues or problems, and preparing necessary documentation and reports as required.
- Maintain current publications and training materials, ensuring all courseware, encompassing distance learning and virtual classroom content, remains up-to-date, relevant, and highly effective.
- Collaborate effectively with the Manager of Operations Training, Manager of Standards, and fellow Ground Instructors to continually enhance the training product and optimize the overall student experience for diverse groups.
- Assist in the comprehensive revision of aircraft operating manuals, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with the IT department to ensure the proper functioning of electronic equipment within training environments and to facilitate continuous improvements in hardware and technological resources.
- Undertake other duties as assigned to strategically support Flight Operations training objectives and departmental needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of two (2) years of flight instruction or ground instruction experience acquired at a Part 121 or Part 135 Air Carrier.
- Demonstrated proficiency in training delivery, sophisticated communication, and dynamic presentation skills, including the proven ability to develop highly effective presentation and training materials.
- Proficient working knowledge of Computer-Based Training (CBT) systems and the full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Exceptional time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities, with the inherent capacity to effectively balance multiple competing objectives in a dynamic environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
- Flexibility to work various shifts and weekends, as dictated by operational demands and training schedules.
- Capability to work effectively both independently with minimal direction and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an aviation-related or relevant technical field.
- Possession of a current Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) rating or a Ground Instructor Certificate (AGI) with an Instrument rating.
- Acceptable prior experience includes service as a military pilot/flight engineer instructor or pilot/flight engineer instructor experience in Part 142, 135, or 121 operations.
- Substantial airline transport aircraft flight or ground training experience.
- Valid Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic's License.
Physical Requirements
- Employees are regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers adeptly to operate computer and telephone keyboards.
- Ability to consistently comply with ATI's attendance requirements.
- Capable of performing light to moderate lifting as an inherent part of the role.
