This position is responsible for providing clear and comprehensive instruction on diverse aviation subjects. The instructor ensures all students acquire the necessary knowledge for licensing examinations and safe flight operations, equipping them with a robust theoretical understanding of aviation principles.
The instructor delivers engaging and informative lectures on assigned theoretical knowledge subjects, upholding the highest professional standards. They ensure training programs adhere to the approved curriculum and the Academy's training and operations manuals. The role involves maintaining and updating training materials, lesson plans, and syllabi as directed. The instructor remains current with aviation regulations and developments, adapting teaching methods and materials accordingly. They complete all assigned tasks within the established timeframes. Collaboration with the line manager ensures optimal use of training aids and facilities, while maintaining course consistency and quality. The instructor mentors and supports students throughout their training, facilitating a clear understanding of the material. They monitor student progress, maintaining records for allocated subjects, identifying areas for improvement and providing constructive feedback. Accurate records of student attendance are maintained. The instructor also coordinates with the line manager in curriculum development and recommendations for corrective training. Confidentiality and security of all examination papers are maintained. The instructor serves as a role model for professionalism, discipline, and appearance, enforcing the highest standards of student conduct. They ensure all personal documentation required for the position is current. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment in the classroom, while reporting any maintenance requirements is also part of the duties. The instructor identifies and reports all safety incidents, promoting the safety policy to staff. They maintain a positive and professional learning environment. Additional duties as assigned by the line manager will also be performed.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in aviation, education, or a related field is required, though a high school diploma or equivalent is acceptable. The candidate should have completed a course in instructional techniques, with a preference for a Train the Trainer certificate. Previous experience in delivering theoretical knowledge instruction, alongside an appropriate theoretical background in the specified subject, is necessary. Prior experience instructing ATPL theory at a GCAA-approved pilot training organization is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience as an instructor, performing similar tasks. A practical background in aviation within the training provided is essential. The instructor must possess an in-depth knowledge of the aviation industry, along with a solid understanding of GCAA safety policies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required.
