Aviation Training and Evaluation Specialist
Job Purpose:
This role is responsible for examining and evaluating the training programs and proficiency checks conducted for Pilots. The incumbent will conduct Pilot Proficiency checks, ensuring adherence to skill test standards for initial type rating and ATPL issuance.
Key Result Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the design and implementation of effective and timely pilot training programs that align with business operational needs and defined performance standards outlined in the Operational Manual Part (D).
- Ensures compliance with quality requirements and GCAA/CAA regulations by all instructors and trainees, upholding safety, efficiency, and customer comfort standards.
- Collaborates with the Supervisor/Manager to ensure training programs cover theoretical and practical/technical aspects, encompassing initial and recurrent trainings, aircraft systems and layout, simulator operation, and crew resource management.
- Identifies training needs for Flight Crew, plans training agendas and schedules, supervises training progress, evaluates trainee performance, and generates reports for management.
- Provides continuous guidance and support to Training Instructors, including leadership courses and one-on-one coaching sessions, to inspire and achieve optimal results. Monitors SFI line performance against established KPIs.
- Evaluates the competency and operational readiness of Pilots, First Officers, and Second Officers, issuing appropriate certificates. Maintains records of all certificates and licenses, including renewal due dates, to ensure recertification before expiry and avoid any suspensions, disqualifications, or fines.
- Ensures the Flight Operations Manual is regularly updated, communicated to Pilots, and included in training courses to maintain compliance with regulations and procedures set by the GCAA/CAA, IOSA, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
- Partners with the Chief Pilot and OCC Manager to ensure all necessary notices related to training, licensing, and pilot qualification are communicated and understood by the respective personnel.
- Supports the training team in internal/external audit requirements and checks, ensuring the availability, update, and compliance of documents, reports, attendance sheets, and records with approved standards.
- Contributes to the creation and updating of the question database used for pilot selection and evaluation exams. Ensures the safety and readiness of facilities, equipment, tools, tests, and results.
- Supports new joiners in the Induction Program on the (LMS) and Simulator trainings, providing guidance and addressing inquiries as needed. Attends briefing sessions to evaluate pilot knowledge.
- Provides support to other hubs in evaluating training programs and training instructors as required. Conducts training courses for "Third Parties" as per approved SLAs and contracts, as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Holds or has held a CPL, MPL, or ATPL in the appropriate aircraft category.
- Has completed the proficiency check for the specific aircraft type rating in an FFS representing the applicable type, within the 12 months preceding the application.
- For an SFI(A) for multi-pilot aeroplanes or SFI(PL), the candidate must also possess:
- At least 1,500 hours of flight time as a pilot on multi-pilot aeroplanes or powered-lift, as applicable.
- Completed, as a pilot or observer, within the 12 months preceding the application, at least:
- 3 route sectors on the flight deck of the applicable aircraft type.
- 2 line-orientated flight training-based simulator sessions conducted by qualified flight crew on the flight deck of the applicable type. These simulator sessions shall include 2 flights of at least 2 hours each between 2 different aerodromes, and the associated pre-flight planning and de-briefing.
