Position Overview

Aero Air is actively seeking experienced Aerial Firefighting Tanker Pilots in Command to join its esteemed team. This role involves operating as a Pilot in Command on MD-87 aircraft for aerial firefighting missions.

Required Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as Pilot in Command on MD-87 aircraft for aerial firefighting operations.
  • Execute all duties in accordance with Aero Air policies, standards of conduct, and aviation regulations.
  • Maintain reliable, regular, and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MD-87 Pilot in Command Requirements:

  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate or Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating (Multiengine Land).
  • Current First or Second-Class Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum 4,000 hours of Total Flight Time.
  • Minimum 2,000 hours of Pilot in Command (airplane) time.
  • Minimum 200 hours of Multiengine PIC (Pilot in Command) time.
  • Minimum 100 hours of Multiengine PIC time in aircraft exceeding 12,500 lbs.
  • Minimum 200 hours of low-level flight experience in typical terrain.
  • Minimum 100 hours of PIC time within the preceding 12 months.
  • Possession of a Heavy Jet type rating.
  • Previous or current U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Aerial Combat Firefighting (AKP) or Aerial Infrared (AKI) rating.

Preferred Qualifications (MD-87 Pilot in Command):

  • Current Initial Attack (IA) rating.
  • DC-9 type rating.

MD-87 Second in Command Requirements:

  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate or Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating (Multiengine Land).
  • Current First or Second-Class Medical Certificate.
  • Minimum 1,000 hours of Total Flight Time.
  • Minimum 500 hours of Pilot in Command (airplane) time.
  • Minimum 200 hours of Multiengine flight time.

Preferred Qualifications (MD-87 Second in Command):

  • Jet type rating.
  • Previous USFS air tanker experience.
  • Low-level flight experience.

General Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • All required certifications as listed above.
  • Valid U.S./state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Valid U.S. Passport.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to travel.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background check.
