SUMMARY
The Aviation Sheet Metal Training Instructor reports to the VP Maintenance Workforce Development. This position conducts technical training classes at Olive Harvey College within the assigned program, which enable the College to meet the current standards of accreditation, applicable federal and state licensing as well as all national, state and local regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Teaches one or more assigned segments that are part of the Sheet Metal and Aviation High School programs.
+ Compile and maintain student grade and attendance records as well as other required department paper work. I.e. advisory reports, daily attendance records and end of class grade records.
+ Follow and maintain daily lesson plans and course Study Guides and ensure their compliance with approved accredited curriculum.
+ Comply with established AAR and College policies and procedures.
+ Comply with established safety requirements developed for the course being taught.
+ Administer and grade lab projects and theory exams required for the course of instruction assigned.
+ Maintain lab equipment.
+ Maintain classroom training aids.
+ Report supplies and expendable materials needed for class to the Program Director at Olive Harvey College.
+ Ensure student compliance with all established student policies and procedures.
+ Provide student remediation as needed and within normal workday.
+ Assist in student retention.
+ Compile and maintain records of attendance for time missed and provide adequate opportunities for student to make up time missed as necessary within normal workday.
+ Ensure all course materials are kept in compliance with College policies.
+ Develop student projects that enhance the students understanding of the course materials.
+ Develop new PowerPoint / Prezei presentations to enhance student learning.
+ Conduct Program Advisory Committees (PAC) and use feedback from industry partners to enhance curriculum content.
+ Conduct student field trips to industry partner locations to help students increase their knowledge and understanding of the aviation and aerospace industry.
+ Perform other incidental duties as may be required.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Certificated A&P with three years of aviation maintenance experience with related skills.
Preferred A&P certificate with AAS or BS.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as technical drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, staff and students.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
FAA Repairman Certificate with Sheet Metal Endorsement
