First Officer - Aviation Operations

Role Overview

The First Officer serves as the second-in-command, providing essential support to the Captain. This pivotal role entails executing assigned duties, adhering to all instructions, and jointly sharing responsibility for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the aircraft. The incumbent is instrumental in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of the crew, passengers, cargo, and equipment. This position demands the exemplification of integrity, leadership, and professionalism, upholding the highest operational standards, and making ethical, decisive decisions during both normal and contingency operations, all under the ultimate authority of the Captain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the Captain in maintaining ultimate responsibility and accountability for the safe operation of the aircraft, crew, passengers, and cargo, ensuring strict compliance with UAE GCAA and international aviation regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Performs delegated flight duties in accordance with company policies, aviation regulations, and safety standards. Fosters professionalism and collaboration among the crew through effective leadership and Crew Resource Management (CRM), upholding the commitment to safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.
  • Executes all assigned duties with precision and professionalism, adhering strictly to company Operations Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and policies to guarantee compliance and operational integrity. Proposes alternative actions when necessary, guided by sound CRM principles.
  • Monitors aircraft systems, performance, and navigation, promptly addressing any irregularities and ensuring adherence to the flight plan. Identifies, documents, and reports safety incidents, SOP breaches, or operational irregularities, proactively highlighting opportunities for safety and efficiency enhancements. Ensures all reports are accurate, comprehensive, and submitted through appropriate channels in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Conducts comprehensive pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to confirm the serviceability of emergency systems and flight deck equipment. Shares responsibility for the aircraft, passengers, crew, and operations from boarding to shutdown, overseeing activities such as fueling and loading. Alerts the Captain immediately to any irregularities.
  • Supports the Captain with crew-related responsibilities from the time of reporting for duty at the Base of Operations. Acts in a supporting capacity at outstations and during layovers. Contributes to the safe and efficient management of all aspects of return sectors until release following post-flight duties upon return to the base.
  • Assists the Captain, who holds full accountability and responsibility for all operational decisions and the overall conduct of the flight, ensuring strict compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
  • Represents the company as a brand ambassador by maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and appearance while on duty and in public. Supports the Captain in ensuring the crew consistently upholds the corporate and brand image, reporting any inconsistencies through established reporting mechanisms.
  • Operates all flight duties in alignment with the company's commercial objectives, expertly balancing operational efficiency with an unwavering commitment to safety and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Ensures every decision made during flight operations supports the airline's mission while maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety and operational excellence.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the latest UAE GCAA and international aviation legislation, operational standards, and industry best practices. Proactively integrates this knowledge to ensure full legal compliance, adherence to procedures, and alignment with evolving industry trends and standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Minimum 2,500 hours of total flying time.
  • Minimum 1,000 hours on modern (EFIS), multi-crew, multi-engine aircraft over 10 tonnes operating weight (Pilot-in-Command time is preferable).
  • Minimum 1,500 hours of Multi-Engine Pilot (MEP) flying time.
  • ICAO English Language Proficiency (Level 4 or above).
  • Unrestricted Class 1 Pilot Medical Certificate from an ICAO Compliant State.
  • ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).

Information Security Requirements (ISR)

Reads and complies with the company's Information Security policies. Diligently reports any weaknesses or incidents to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. Completes all required ISR awareness sessions and adheres to associated guidelines in daily business operations.
