First Officer

Main Objective of the Role:

The First Officer serves as the second-in-command, providing essential support to the Captain. This involves executing assigned duties, strictly adhering to instructions, and sharing responsibility for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the aircraft. The role contributes significantly to the safety, security, and well-being of the crew, passengers, cargo, and equipment. The First Officer is expected to exemplify integrity, leadership, and professionalism, uphold the highest operational standards, and make ethical and decisive decisions during both normal and contingency operations, always under the Captain’s ultimate authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Captain in maintaining ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of the aircraft, crew, passengers, and cargo, ensuring full compliance with UAE GCAA and international aviation regulations, company policies and procedures, and industry standards.
  • Performs delegated flight duties in accordance with company policies, aviation regulations, and safety standards. Fosters professionalism and collaboration among the crew through effective leadership and Crew Resource Management (CRM), upholding the company’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.
  • Executes all duties with precision and professionalism, adhering to the company’s Operations Manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and policies to ensure compliance and operational integrity. Proposes alternative actions when necessary, guided by sound CRM principles.
  • Monitors aircraft systems, performance, and navigation, promptly addressing irregularities and ensuring adherence to the flight plan. Identifies, documents, and reports safety incidents, SOP breaches, or operational irregularities, proactively highlighting opportunities for enhancement. Ensures all reports are accurate, comprehensive, and submitted through appropriate channels in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Conducts comprehensive pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to ensure the serviceability of emergency systems and flight deck equipment. Shares responsibility for the aircraft, passengers, crew, and operations from boarding through shutdown. Oversees activities such as fueling and loading and immediately alerts the Commander to any irregularities.
  • Supports the Captain by assisting with responsibilities for the crew from reporting for duty at the Base of Operations in Dubai, acting in a supporting role at outstations and during layovers, and contributing to the safe and efficient management of all aspects of return sector(s) until release following post-flight duties upon return to Dubai.
  • Assists the Captain, who as the Aircraft Commander holds full accountability and responsibility for all operational decisions and the overall conduct of the flight, ensuring strict compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
  • Represents the company as a brand ambassador by maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and appearance while on duty and in public. Supports the Captain in ensuring the crew consistently upholds the corporate and brand image, reporting inconsistencies through established mechanisms.
  • Operates all flight duties in alignment with the company’s commercial objectives, expertly balancing operational efficiency with an unwavering commitment to safety and full compliance with all regulatory requirements. Ensures every decision supports the airline’s mission while maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety and operational excellence.
  • Stays informed on the latest UAE GCAA and international aviation legislation, operational standards, and industry best practices. Proactively integrates this knowledge to ensure full legal compliance, adherence to procedures, and alignment with evolving industry trends and standards.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Fluent in English
  • Minimum 2,500 hours total flying time
  • Minimum 1,000 hours on modern (EFIS), multi crew, multi engine aircraft over 10 tonnes operating weight (PIC time preferable)
  • Minimum 1500 hours Multi-Pilot Aircraft (MPA) flying time
  • ICAO English Language Proficiency (Level 4 or above)
  • Unrestricted Class 1 Pilot Medical Certificate from an ICAO Compliant State
  • ICAO Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)

ISR Requirements:

The First Officer is required to read and comply with the company’s ISR policies and diligently report any weakness or incidents to the respective Line Manager or the Information Security team. All required ISR awareness sessions must be completed, and associated guidelines followed in day-to-day business operations.
