The Opportunity: Corporate Captain (Pilot-in-Command)
Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking an accomplished and dedicated Corporate Captain (Pilot-in-Command) to join its world-class aviation team. This critical full-time, onsite position, based at our Teterboro, New Jersey facility, offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to executive air travel and operational excellence. The Captain will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, secure, and efficient execution of flight assignments, upholding the highest standards of operational conduct and regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the Chief Pilot, the Captain serves as the final authority for the safe conduct of all assigned flights.
Key Responsibilities
The Corporate Captain's duties encompass a broad range of responsibilities, emphasizing safety, precision, and leadership:
- Flight Operations & Safety Leadership:
- Commands aircraft safely and efficiently, determining optimal departure times and routes, and making critical decisions regarding flight cancellation due to adverse weather or other conditions.
- Serves as the ultimate authority for the safe conduct of all assigned flights.
- Ensures strict adherence to all federal, local, and company aviation regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Implements necessary operational adjustments en route to maintain flight safety and compliance.
- Conducts flights in a prudent manner, consistently meeting or exceeding industry and company safety standards.
- Actively supports an open safety culture, reporting all safety hazards and concerns through the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
- Immediately reports any hazardous actions, conduct, or events to the Chief Pilot and Head of Safety.
- Crew & Aircraft Management:
- Thoroughly briefs the Second-in-Command (SIC) on all aspects of the flight, fostering a complete understanding of operational parameters.
- Mentors and imparts knowledge to the SIC, preparing them for potential Pilot-in-Command duties during emergencies or future upgrades.
- Verifies the flight crew's readiness for duty, ensuring proper attire and mental and physical fitness.
- Maintains an expert-level working knowledge of all authorized aircraft systems, including emergency procedures.
- Accurately completes all required trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Records and immediately reports all aircraft discrepancies to the Maintenance Manager or designee, consulting the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and coordinating repair or deferral as directed.
- Secures the aircraft post-flight, arranging hangar storage as necessary or instructed by company management.
- Pre-Flight & Post-Flight Procedures:
- Obtains and analyzes the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from authorized agencies.
- Files, or ensures the filing of, flight plans with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Conducts detailed analysis of area, enroute, and terminal charts for intended landing and alternate airports.
- Performs duties as the In-Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the twelve-five standard security program.
- Conducts or assigns required passenger safety briefings in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
- Performs other duties as required to support comprehensive aviation operations.
Qualifications and Experience

Required Aviation Credentials & Experience:
- Valid Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate with a Gulfstream GV Type Rating (GVl).
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum 5,000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- Minimum 1,500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- Minimum 2,000 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.
- Minimum 1,500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- Minimum 1,500 hours Turbine time.
- Minimum 100 hours Night flight time.
- Minimum 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- Minimum 5 years of dedicated Corporate Aviation experience.

Preferred Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
Physical Demands
This role requires physical attributes consistent with aviation professionals. The employee will frequently use hands and fingers for handling, feeling, or reaching; and stand, walk, or sit. Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds above the head, is essential. Specific vision capabilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus, are necessary for the safe performance of duties.
Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic and varied, encompassing both heavy maintenance areas and upscale passenger environments. The noise level can range from moderate to high, particularly during aircraft arrival and departure. The role involves frequent exposure to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. The Captain must be prepared to work in all types of weather conditions and in hangar environments that may experience extreme temperatures during different seasons of the year. The noise level in the work environment is generally loud.
