Flight Attendant
United Airlines is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join their team as Flight Attendants. As a Flight Attendant, the individual will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers while providing exceptional customer service. Comprehensive training is provided in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and customer service standards. Upon successful completion, the individual will be assigned to one of several hubs or base locations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest levels of safety and security on board.
- Adapt to and respond effectively to various customer-facing scenarios.
- Provide outstanding interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to resolve issues with understanding, compassion, and grace.
- Influence customer loyalty through excellent service.
- Represent United with pride and distinction.
- Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for days at a time.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) in a diligent and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED; 2 or more years of college preferred.
- At least one year of customer service experience in the service industry (retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, social service, etc.).
- Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and loudly in an emergency.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable, especially Arabic, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Tagalog.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations (aircraft evacuation, security threats, medical emergencies, severe weather, turbulence).
- Professional appearance, excellent grooming standards, and willingness to follow uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining prior to expiration.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation.
- Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check.
