Training:
New Flight Attendants will participate in a 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, learning United's safety and customer service standards. United provides a $140/week per diem, accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training. Upon successful completion of training, individuals will be assigned to one of United's hubs or other flight attendant base locations.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry.
- Must be able to speak clearly and concisely in a manner that is easily heard in an emergency.
- Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
- Must possess the ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate in high-stress situations.
- Must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to grooming standards.
- Tattoos are permitted on arms, wrists, legs and feet, but cannot exceed the size of a credit card/employee badge (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) or they must be covered with standard uniform pieces. Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck, including behind the ear. Offensive tattoos are prohibited.
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Must be able to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule.
- Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in the water during training.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.
