Flight Attendant

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest levels of safety and security for all passengers.

- Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for days at a time.

- Serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) in a diligent and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, social service, etc.).
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely, loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable, including Arabic, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Tagalog.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations.
- Professional appearance and excellent grooming standards; willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are NOT permitted on the head, hands, or neck.
- Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.).
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule supporting United's 24/7 operation.
- Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check.
Training:
Successful candidates will participate in a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United safety and customer service standards. A $140/week per diem, accommodations, breakfast, and lunch will be provided during training. Successful graduates will be assigned to one of United's hubs or other flight attendant base locations (relocation funds not provided).
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.
