Responsibilities:

• Prioritize safety and security by adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.
• Provide exceptional customer service with optimism, positivity, and grace.
• Engage directly with customers, resolving issues with understanding and compassion.

• Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
• Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) in a diligent and professional manner.
• Operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) to complete required tasks.

Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
• High school graduate or GED equivalent; 2 or more years of college preferred.
• Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (retail, hospitality, food service, teaching/education, aviation, social service).
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently. Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable (Arabic, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Tagalog).
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, even in emergency situations.
• Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
• Professional appearance, excellent grooming standards, and willingness to adhere to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines. Tattoos are generally permitted on arms, wrists, legs and feet if they are not larger than a credit card and are not offensive.
• Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
• Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts.
• Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal).
• Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in water during training.
• Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
• Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
• Must be able to pass a 10-year background check.

Training:

New Flight Attendants will participate in a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and customer service standards. United provides a $140/week per diem, accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.
