United Airlines Flight Attendant

As a Flight Attendant, the individual will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers. Responsibilities:
- Prioritize passenger safety and security by adhering to strict safety regulations and procedures.
- Provide outstanding customer service, demonstrating empathy, good judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Manage diverse customer-facing scenarios with optimism and positivity.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations, such as medical emergencies, turbulence, or security threats.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a team, while also demonstrating the ability to work independently.
- Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a diligent and professional manner.
- Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for days at a time.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service industry (retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, social service, etc.).
- Must speak clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding).
- Must be able to read and speak Dutch fluently.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards, uniform guidelines, and tattoo/piercing policies. Tattoos are NOT permitted on the head, hands, or neck, including behind the ear. Permitted visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must not be larger than a credit card (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) or must be covered by uniform pieces and must not be offensive.
- No decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (luggage), and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.).
- Must pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule in support of United’s 24/7 operation.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water during training.
- Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana are prohibited.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history, that does not prohibit travel to any United destination.
Training:
New hires will participate in a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and customer service standards. United provides a $140/week per diem, accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training.
Compensation and Benefits:
United Airlines offers a competitive compensation package, including a starting hourly flight pay of $28.88, with potential to reach $67.11 based on seniority. Additional compensation is available for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
