Flight Attendant
United Airlines is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join its team as Flight Attendants. As a member of United's inflight crew, the Flight Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of passengers while delivering exceptional customer service. Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest levels of safety and security on board the aircraft.
- Adapt and respond effectively to diverse customer needs and situations.

- Demonstrate flexibility and availability for global assignments, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.

- Serve food and beverages, including alcohol, diligently and professionally.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations, such as evacuations, security threats, and medical emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service-related industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
- Must be able to read and speak Hebrew fluently.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely, projecting voice sufficiently for emergency situations.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards, including uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Tattoos are NOT permitted on the head, hands, or neck, including behind the ear. You are permitted to have visible tattoos on your arms, wrists, legs, and feet. Any visible tattoos may not be larger than a credit card / employee badge (3.5 inches long x 2.24 inches wide) or they must be covered with standard uniform pieces. It is also important that your visible tattoo is not offensive (this includes but is not limited to tattoos that are violent, obscene, sexual, racist or contain objectionable content or any imagery that includes weapons)
- No decorative covers, adornments and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are permitted.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
- Must possess a valid passport prior to application with 18 months validity remaining prior to its expiration
- Current physical possession of valid U.S. passport book or foreign passport book with applicable visas and eligibility to travel globally without restrictions.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (e.g., luggage) and push/pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment with a combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach (simultaneous), without shoes on.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.
Training:
New Flight Attendants will undergo a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and customer service standards. United provides a $140/week per diem, along with accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training. Flight attendant trainees must successfully complete an evacuation drill in the water (pool) during training. Upon successful completion of training, individuals will be assigned to one of United's hub locations: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or one of the other flight attendant base locations.
Compensation and Benefits:
United Airlines offers a competitive compensation package, including a starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour with top of base scale at $67.11/hour. Seniority based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips are available.
