Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the highest levels of safety for all passengers.
  • Adapt to diverse customer-facing scenarios with a "People-First" approach.
  • Serve customers with optimism, positivity, and grace, resolving issues with understanding and compassion.
  • Cultivate customer loyalty through excellent service, representing United Airlines with pride.
  • Maintain availability for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
  • Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Create memorable experiences for every customer on every flight.
  • Operate electronic devices proficiently.
  • Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, diligently and professionally.
  • Effectively communicate in high-stress situations.

  • Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.

Training:

  • 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United safety and customer service standards.
  • $140/week per diem provided during training, along with accommodations, breakfast, and lunch.
  • $1,000 bonus upon successful completion of training.
  • Assignment to one of seven hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or other flight attendant base locations. (Relocation funds not provided).

Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
  • High school graduate or GED; 2 or more years of college preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service industry (retail, hospitality, food, teaching/education, aviation, social service, etc.).
  • Must be able to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner, loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
  • Fluent in English (speak, read, write, and understand).
  • Must be able to read and speak German fluently.
  • Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
  • Professional appearance, excellent grooming standards, and willingness to follow uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
  • Tattoos are NOT permitted on the head, hands, or neck, including behind the ear. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must adhere to size and content restrictions.
  • Decorative covers, adornments, and/or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
  • Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months validity remaining prior to its expiration and be able to travel to and from all countries United serves without any restrictions.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, etc.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push and pull a beverage cart (up to 250 lbs.).
  • Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
  • Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
  • Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
  • Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.
