Flight Attendant

As a Flight Attendant, one plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers. The Flight Attendant provides outstanding customer service, manages in-flight safety procedures, and creates a positive and memorable travel experience.
Responsibilities:
- Prioritize passenger safety and security, adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a focus on creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for all passengers.
- Effectively communicate with passengers, providing clear and concise information regarding safety procedures, flight updates, and onboard services.
- Manage a variety of customer-facing situations with empathy, good judgment, and grace.
- Resolve passenger issues and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a flight crew team.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to uniform and grooming standards.
- Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school diploma or GED required; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in the service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social service).
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding) is required.
- Fluency in Greek (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding) is required.
- Ability to speak in a clear, concise, and organized manner, audible in an emergency.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.).
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months validity remaining.
- Must be able to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (up to 250 lbs.), and sit in an assigned jump seat.
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule in support of United’s 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of a water evacuation drill during training.
- Willingness to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Ability to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Ability to pass a 10-year background check.

New hires will participate in an intensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, to learn United's safety and customer service standards. United provides a $140/week per diem, along with accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training. Upon successful completion of training, Flight Attendants will be assigned to one of United's hub locations.
