Flight Attendant

Flexibility is essential, as Flight Attendants are available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. They must be dependable, punctual, and able to fulfill reserve assignments on short notice, potentially being away from their base for extended periods. As a valued team member, the Flight Attendant consistently demonstrates the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest levels of safety and security for passengers.
- Provide outstanding customer service, demonstrating empathy and resolving issues effectively.
- Represent United Airlines with professionalism and pride.
- Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Respond to reserve assignments on short notice.
- Work both independently and as part of a team.
- Operate electronic devices proficiently.
- Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a professional manner.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service-related industry (retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Must be able to read and speak Italian fluently.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull a beverage cart.
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation.
- Must successfully complete an evacuation drill in the water (pool) during training.
- Must pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check.

Training:
New Flight Attendants will participate in a comprehensive 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX, covering United's safety and customer service standards. United provides a $140/week per diem, along with accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training. Successful training graduates will receive a $1,000 bonus. Upon completion of training, Flight Attendants will be assigned to one of United's hub locations.
