United Airlines Flight Attendant
United Airlines is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join its team as Flight Attendants. As a Flight Attendant, the individual will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers while delivering exceptional customer service. The Flight Attendant represents United Airlines with pride and distinction, creating memorable experiences for every customer on every flight.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest levels of safety and security onboard the aircraft.
- Provide exceptional customer service, demonstrating optimism, positivity, and empathy.
- Address customer needs and resolve issues with understanding and grace.
- Serve and sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a professional manner.
- Effectively communicate in high-stress situations, such as evacuations, security threats, and medical emergencies.
- Work independently and as part of a team, maintaining dependability and timeliness.
- Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from base for extended periods.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, social services).
- Must be able to speak clearly and concisely in English and German, loudly enough to be heard in an emergency.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming, uniform, and tattoo guidelines.
- Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must meet size and content restrictions.
- No decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are permitted.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
- Must possess a valid U.S. or foreign passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects (up to 70 lbs), and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, supporting a 24/7 operation, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water during training.
- Must be willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.
- Seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and an Employee Assistance Program.
- Flight privileges for employee, family, and friends on a stand-by basis.
- During training, United provides a $140/week stipend, accommodations, and two meals per day.
- A $1,000 bonus is awarded upon successful completion of training.

Training:
To start your career, the Flight Attendant will begin with 6.5 weeklong training in Houston, TX, learning United's safety and customer service standards. Upon successful completion, the individual will be assigned to one of seven hubs: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or one of our other flight attendant base locations (relocation funds not provided).
