Flight Attendant

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest levels of safety and security on board the aircraft.
- Adapt and respond effectively to diverse customer needs and situations.

- Be available for global assignments 24/7, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.
- Fulfill reserve assignments on short notice and be away from the assigned base for extended periods.
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure seamless flight operations.
- Serve and/or sell food and beverages, including alcohol, in a professional manner.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; two or more years of college are preferred.
- Minimum of one year of customer service experience in a service-related industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching, aviation, social services).
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, with sufficient volume for emergency situations.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding). Proficiency in a second language is highly desirable.
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound.
- Effective communication skills in high-stress situations (e.g., aircraft evacuation, security threats, medical emergencies).
- Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards, uniform guidelines, and tattoo/piercing policies.
- Must possess a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs).
- Ability to pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal).
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule in support of United's 24/7 operation.
- Successful completion of an evacuation drill in water (pool) during training.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check, including criminal background history.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour, with top of base scale at $67.11/hour.
- Seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
