Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application.
- High school graduate or GED; two or more years of college preferred.
- At least one year of customer service experience in a service industry setting (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching/education, aviation, social service).
- Must be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and loudly enough to be heard in emergency situations.
- Fluency in spoken, written, and understood English is essential.
- Ability to read and speak Japanese fluently is required.
- Must possess exceptional communication skills, effectively conveying information in high-stress situations such as aircraft evacuations, security threats, delays, medical emergencies, severe weather conditions, and turbulence.
- Professional appearance, adherence to strict grooming standards, and willingness to follow uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines.
- Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck, including behind the ear. Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must be no larger than a credit card and must not contain offensive imagery.
- Decorative covers, adornments, and jewelry on teeth or in the mouth are not permitted.
- Proficiency in operating electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) for task completion.
- Possession of a valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining prior to expiration.
- Ability to travel to and from all countries served by United without any restrictions.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects, push and pull beverage carts (up to 250 lbs.), and pass a functional reach assessment.
- Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened.
- Willingness to serve and/or sell food and beverages (including alcohol) professionally.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule to support United's 24/7 operation.
Onboarding and Training:
- Flight attendant trainees must successfully demonstrate an evacuation drill in the water (pool) during training.
- Pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests are required.
- Must be able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens. Medical and recreational marijuana are prohibited.
- Successful completion of a 10-year background check, including criminal background history, is mandatory.
Compensation and Benefits:
United offers a competitive compensation package, including:
- Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour with a top-of-base scale of $67.11/hour. Seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.
