What You’ll Do
The Chief Pilot is directly responsible to the Director of Operations. He or
she directly supervises the Fleet Captains, Check Airmen, and Line Pilots.
The development and execution of flight training programs for flight
operations personnel
The supervision of Crewmembers as to their qualifications and
compliance with rules and regulations of the FAA, TSA, and the
Company
The scheduling and general supervision of Crewmembers and their
scheduled assignments in conjunction with the Flight Following and
Crew Scheduling Departments
The training and development of Crewmembers under his/her
supervision to the end that they meet Company and FAA standards of
competency
Recommendations of new and approved flight operations policies,
practices, and procedures
The appointment and supervision of sufficient Check Airmen to ensure
that all Crewmembers follow procedures as outlined in applicable FAA
and Company manuals, and that Crewmembers maintain current route
qualifications, and receive proficiency checks as required by current
FAA and Company regulations. The appointment of Check Airmen shall
be made in such a manner as to comply with Company and FAA
requirements
Interviewing, employing, and, when necessary, counseling Flight
Department Personnel
Advising the Director of Operations of domicile requirements and
Crewmember staffing for each domicile
Establishment of maintenance of records to assure currency of all
required manuals and ensure Crewmembers receive and post revisions
promptly
Required to ensure that employees under his or her direction are
provided the training, tools, and equipment necessary to perform their
assigned tasks in the safest possible manner, and within the standards
of the Occupational Safety and Health organization with legal authority
at the location at which those employees are working
Delegated by the President, USA Jet Airlines, the duty to ensure the
implementation, integration, and maintenance of the USA Jet Airlines
Safety Management System within the area(s) of his/her responsibility
Shall facilitate hazard identification and safety risk analysis within the
area(s) of his/her responsibility
Shall monitor the effectiveness of safety risk controls in the area(s) of
his/her responsibility
Shall ensure safety promotion throughout USA Jet’s organization as
required by 14 CFR § 5 subpart E
Performs the evaluation and reporting to the President, USA Jet
Airlines, on the performance of the USA Jet Airlines Safety Management
System and on any needed improvements thereto
All other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
Hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate ratings for at
least one of the airplanes listed on USA Jet OpSpecs
In the case of an individual becoming Chief Pilot for the first time ever,
have at least three years’ experience within the past six years as Pilotin-Command of a large airplane operated under FAR Part 121 or 135
In the case of an individual with previous experience as a Chief Pilot,
have at least three years’ experience as Pilot-in-Command of a large
airplane operated under FAR Part 121 or 135
Must complete and maintain currency in the training and checking
requirements defined in USA Jet Approved/Accepted Manuals to serve
as Pilot-in-Command
Must have a clear understanding of all regulatory requirements
Must read, write, and speak English fluently
Must, to the extent of his or her responsibilities, have thorough
understanding of aviation safety standards and safe operating
practices, 14 CFR Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121,
including all applicable maintenance and airworthiness requirements,
OpsSpecs, and Manuals for USA Jet as required by 121.133
In the absence of the DO, when the Chief Pilot meets the requirements
of 14 CFR 119.67(a), s/he may act as a proxy to perform the duties and
responsibilities of the DO under 14 CFR 119.65(a)(2). The DO, or other
authorized person, shall notify the Chief Pilot in writing that s/he has
been designated to perform the functions and for what time period
This position will be filled by a full-time employee who is a properly
qualified individual who meets the qualification requirements and who has
been approved by the FAA to serve as Chief Pilot for USA Jet
