Responsibilities and Duties
As a First Officer, the incumbent directly represents the airline, playing a crucial role in ensuring the safety and punctuality of all flights. Working collaboratively with the entire crew, the First Officer shares responsibility for the aircraft, crew, passengers, and cargo on board. Key responsibilities include:
- Operating SWISS aircraft safely and efficiently, maintaining strict adherence to punctuality, economic standards, and the highest quality service for all guests.
- Executing comprehensive flight preparation and operation in full compliance with established SWISS regulations and procedures.
- Fostering effective collaboration with the flight crew, ground personnel, and Air Traffic Control (ATC).
- Providing essential support and acting as a deputy to the Commander across all operational aspects.
- Independently and continuously maintaining and deepening professional knowledge and expertise.
- Commitment to responsible and sustainable operational conduct.
Mandatory Requirements (Direct Entry First Officer A320)
To be considered for the position of Direct Entry First Officer A320, candidates must satisfy the following stringent criteria:
Educational and Licensing Requirements
In addition to possessing a secondary education qualification (Matura/Abitur) or equivalent university entrance qualification (General University or Applied Sciences entrance qualification), applicants must meet these specific aviation requirements:
- Possession of ATPL(A), CPL(A)/IR with ATPL(A) theory credit, or an MPL license (EASA Part-FCL).
- Successful completion of Advanced UPRT Training compliant with EASA.FCL.745 standards.
- A valid A320 Type Rating.
- A Multi-Engine IR Rating that includes PBN endorsement.
- Minimum of 800 hours of flight experience on the Airbus A320 family aircraft.
- Valid Medical Class 1 Certificate.
- Provision of seamlessly documented flight performance records (e.g., pilot logbook extract, license copies, etc.).
General and Operational Requirements
- Citizenship of Switzerland or possession of an EU-27/EFTA passport.
- Excellent proficiency in German (minimum B2 level certification required if German is not the native/everyday language) and good English skills (minimum ICAO Level 4).
- An impeccable background and clean criminal record (Leumund).
- Willingness to receive necessary vaccinations approved in Switzerland (including COVID-19, Yellow Fever, etc.).
- Body height must be between 160 cm and 198 cm.
- Maximum age upon application is 56 years, based on the Collective Labour Agreement (GAV).
