Position Description
The First Officer operates the Caravan C-208 aircraft, contributing to Surf Air Mobility's innovative air travel services. This exempt position reports to the Chief Pilot and Director of Operations. The role offers flexible scheduling and the advantage of being based in Hawaii, with current base locations in Honolulu (HNL) and Kahului (OGG). The route structure is designed to allow most pilots to return home daily, enhancing work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
- Operate the Caravan C-208 aircraft in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and provide exceptional customer service.
- Adhere to all flight operational procedures and safety protocols.
- Possess an FAA Commercial Pilot License with Airplane Single Engine Land (ASEL) endorsement.
- Hold a current Instrument Rating.
- Minimum of 6 months of pilot experience.
- Accumulate a minimum of 500 flight hours, including 100 hours of cross-country flight time, 25 hours of which must be night flying, and 50 hours of turbine time or 75 hours of instrument time.
- Possess a current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate.
- Hold an FCC Restricted Radio Operator Permit.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License and Passport.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Demonstrate willingness and availability to work flexible and variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
- Successfully pass a comprehensive 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- A $20,100 training contract is required.
- Proficiently speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
- Maintain an FAA Record in good standing.
- Uphold a well-groomed appearance, a positive attitude, and conduct professional interactions with passengers and colleagues.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation Package:
- Guaranteed 65 block hours per month, commencing from the first day of training.
- Pilots under 600 hours: $12 per block hour during initial ground school training and $15 per block hour upon release to line operations.
- Pilots with 600-900 hours: $18 per block hour.
- Pilots with over 900 hours: $21 per block hour.
- Upon release to line, a flat rate of $45 per diem is provided for overnight stays away from the assigned base.
- Travel and hotel accommodations are provided during training.
