Surdex, a leader in aerial mapping, is hiring a Director of Pilot Operations/Chief Pilot to lead our team of pilots, overseeing safety, ensuring up-to-date pilot requirements (medical, and currency), promoting teamwork, advising on performance management issues, and engaging in employment actions (hiring, promotions and terminations). Performs Pilot in Command duties on an as-needed basis.

Ensure all pilots adhere to FAA regulations, Flight Operations Manual, and Company policies and procedures.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with regional FAA organizations and FBOs.

Partner with Director of Aerial Acquisition to meet operational objectives.

Mentor, train, and assist in the selection of flight crew staff.

Answer technical pilot issues pertaining to flight.

Ensure the delivery of flight safety and operations training.

Ensure complete training on familiarization of aircraft.

Set goals, manage performance and provide feedback to all pilot staff to ensure efficient work and aircraft utilization.

Direct and coordinate flight activities.

Communicate with Sales, Project Management, and Operations on substantial issues related to projects, production priorities, job status, and equipment resources.

Oversee creation and maintenance of ISO Work Instructions and Skill Matrix.

Create and disseminate department efficiency, training, and status reports.

Promote the Company's mission and a positive work environment through effective hiring, training, coaching, and developing employees, providing constructive and timely performance feedback, adhering to Company policies and procedures, processing time and expense reports, and ensuring timely two-way communication.

Safely and efficiently execute aerial photography/data acquisition missions (up to 50% of time).

Pre-flight prep.

Participate in daily flight planning meetings to determine and execute missions, including relocation of aircraft when needed.

During flight: Safely operate the aircraft by complying with all Federal Aviation Regulations, Flight Operations Manual, STC's, Standard Operating Procedures, and Company policies and procedures.

Post flight: secure aircraft after mission is complete and perform post flight duties .
Required Experience, Certifications and Skills
-
Commercial Pilot's certificate, single engine and multi engine, with instrument rating

Valid and current second class medical
-
Valid Driver's License and Passport (or ability to obtain one)

Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language

1500+ flight hours
-
2+ years of pilot supervisory experience
Preferred:
-
3000+ flight hours
-
CFI, CFII and MEI
-
4+ years of pilot supervisory experience
Physical Requirements:
-
Ability to sit in a confined space in the plane for up to six (6) hours at a time.

Visual acuity to see close-up, distance, color, periphery, and depth.

Ability to use a computer keyboard and manipulate small equipment parts.

Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds of equipment and supplies.

Ability to adapt to changing temperatures, noise, light, and altitude.

Ability to pass DOT pre-employment, random and post-accident drug tests.
