About the Role
Sun Country Flight Attendants are entrusted with ensuring the highest standards of safety and security while delivering exceptional customer service.
Compensation and Benefits
- Monthly Guarantee: Flight Attendants receive a monthly guarantee of 72.5 flight hours at a rate of $21.53 per hour.
- Union Representation: Sun Country Flight Attendants are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
- Compensation Schedule: The compensation schedule is based on the collective bargaining agreement.
- Uniform: Flight Attendants are responsible for purchasing their first uniform and luggage, costing approximately $700-$1000. This expense can be deducted from paychecks once employed.
- Relocation: Relocation costs are solely the responsibility of the Flight Attendant.
- Work Schedule: As a scheduled passenger airline operating 365 days a year, Sun Country Airlines requires Flight Attendants to work various shifts, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and "red-eye" hours. Shifts are bid monthly and awarded based on seniority.
- Reserve (On-Call) Flight Attendants: Must be able to report to the airport within 2 hours of receiving an assignment. They are scheduled with 10 days off per month and must be immediately available by phone on the remaining days.
- Line Holding Flight Attendants: Are scheduled with a minimum of 13 days off per month.
Flight Attendant Training Class
- The training class is approximately 5 weeks long and conducted on-site at our training facility in Minneapolis, MN.
- Travel and lodging accommodations during training are provided by Sun Country Airlines.
- Successful completion of the training is mandatory to become a Flight Attendant.
- Although the training is unpaid, a $1,000 learning stipend is awarded upon successful completion.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety, security, and comfort of all passengers.
- Ensure compliance with all mandated Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations.
- Follow all Federal Aviation Regulations and Sun Country Airlines policies.
- Conduct preflight safety checks of the cabin and emergency equipment.
- Respond effectively during emergency situations.
- Manage the sale of onboard liquor, food, and other amenities.
- Prepare and serve meals and beverages according to service standards.
- Respond to customer illness and injury and administer first aid.
- De-escalate situations with unruly or upset customers and maintain order in the cabin.
- Conduct all tasks safely and efficiently, adhering to all local, state, and federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and any internal policies and procedures established by Sun Country Airlines.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Required Qualifications
- Must possess a passport with at least 6 months of validity prior to the start of training. Ability to travel in and out of the USA and Canada, as well as cities/countries served by Sun Country Airlines.
- Ability to pass all drug testing in compliance with the FAA.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of direct customer service experience.
- Basic Computer Knowledge.
- Ability to read, write, understand, and clearly speak in English.
- Must be 20 years of age or older at the end of initial training.
- Must be able to reach 80 vertical inches, without shoes, to operate all necessary equipment and systems.
- Must be able to kneel to operate the aircraft door mechanism and perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent dependability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to remain calm and respond to emergency situations, including aircraft evacuations, in-flight fires, bomb threats, unusual situations, and turbulence.
- Ability to manage emergencies and care for passengers under duress.
- Constant alertness and the ability to act in emergency situations.
- Ability to endure repetitive variances in altitude and cabin pressure.
- Ability to relocate to within 2 hours of Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) while on "reserve" (on-call) status.
- Ability to be away from home for up to six (6) nights in a row.
- Ability to work "reserve" (on-call) status for extended periods.
- Ability to fit fully into FA jump seats and secure the seat belt/shoulder harness assembly without modification in any manner to achieve closure.
- Sufficient vision to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
- Sufficient hearing acuity to communicate with co-workers and passengers.
- Ability to meet the demands of a vigorous and varied schedule.
- Stamina appropriate to the duty requirements.
- Must present a neat and professional appearance, adhering to Sun Country Airlines uniform and appearance standards. No visible tattoos or body piercings.
Preferred Skills
- Previous Flight Attendant experience.
Work Environment
This job primarily takes place in a pressurized aircraft for extended periods. Employees will be exposed to loud and distracting sounds and noise levels. While the cabin is pressurized, employees will be exposed to recycled air. This position requires extensive travel, necessitating the ability to spend consecutive nights away from home and endure all climates.

- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Additionally, the employee must be able to frequently push and pull carts with weights between 100-250 pounds.
- This position also requires the ability to open and close the aircraft door in normal/emergency mode.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
