Essential Responsibilities
The Avro RJ Captain (Pilot in Command) operates with ultimate responsibility for the safe execution of all assigned flights and duties. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Operating the Avro RJ aircraft safely and efficiently as Pilot in Command (PIC) across Northern Canada and other assigned routes.
- Maintaining absolute currency with all pertinent flight documentation, including weather reports, applicable Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), and verifying the accuracy and completeness of Type A flight plans.
- Diligently participating in all required aircraft pre-flight inspections, systems checks, and executing all necessary post-flight duties and reporting procedures.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates must meet the following mandatory requirements:
- Possession of a current Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
- A minimum of 4,000 hours Total Flight Time.
- A minimum of 2,500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) time on aircraft greater than 5,700 kg.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and upholding a robust safety culture.
- Possession of strong interpersonal and clear communication skills suitable for crew and client interaction.
- Possession of a current Passport with the legal ability to travel to the US and Europe.
- Ability to successfully obtain a Canadian Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
The following experience will be considered distinct assets:
- A minimum of 500 hours on a Jet aircraft.
- Prior experience operating within the High Arctic environment.
- Proven experience with Glass Cockpit technology.
