Role Summary
The Flight Operations Flight Instructor is a pivotal role within the Flight Operations Department, responsible for delivering essential training to Pilots. This critical function ensures that all training adheres strictly to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), the Advanced Qualification Program Manual (AQPM), the Flight Operations Training Manual (FOTM), and established Company requirements/agreements.
The Instructor conducts comprehensive training sessions in both classroom settings and advanced flight simulators, equipping Pilots with the requisite knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to guarantee safe and reliable air travel for our Customers. Successful candidates will possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills essential for facilitating superior flight instruction.
Due to the collaborative nature of this role, the Flight Operations Flight Instructor is required to work from the Dallas, TX headquarters facility during standard business hours, promoting camaraderie, collaboration, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
The Flight Operations Flight Instructor is tasked with the following duties:
- Preparing and conducting classroom and flight simulator training sessions, ensuring alignment with FARs, Training Policies/Manuals, and Company standards.
- Actively facilitating and enhancing pilot learning.
- Developing and creating high-quality instructional and evaluation media/materials to support advanced training programs.
- Maintaining the integrity of course materials and procedures through dedicated self-study, skills practice, critique reviews, and participation in instructor meetings.
- Performing other job duties as directed by Leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated expertise in operating training equipment, including computer-based training workstations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- In-depth knowledge of flight training instructional duties and a strong working comprehension of FAR training requirements.
- Excellent English verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to effectively read complex technical aircraft documents, meticulously follow technical instructions, rapidly learn new technical concepts, and prepare clear, understandable written technical guidance for others.
- Capability to deliver accurate work under strict time constraints while maintaining a high degree of flexibility.
- Ability to work varied assigned hours, which includes evenings, weekends, and holidays, adhering to a rotating assigned work schedule necessary to cover operational hours (365 days a year, up to 24 hours a day).
Qualifications
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience
- Required: Documented flying experience operating an aircraft.
Licensing and Certification
- Required: USA DOT/FAA Unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATPL). The certificate must display:
- "Airplane Multiengine Land" Category and Class Ratings.
- "English Proficient" limitation.
- Required: Must possess a valid United States Driver's License.
- Required: Must meet all regulatory criteria to obtain and continuously maintain Flight Deck Jumpseat Access; successful and continuous enrollment in Rap Back is mandatory for this position.
Physical Abilities
The candidate must meet the following physical standards to perform instructional and observation duties:
- Ability to view and read computer/video/flight deck displays frequently.
- Ability to participate in the FAR-directed Line Observation Program and safely enter and exit the aircraft under normal and emergency conditions.
- Ability to enter and exit the flight simulator, cabin simulator, or mock-up, and briefing rooms under normal and emergency conditions.
- Ability to sit in the simulator without interruption for up to 4 hours.
- Ability to work from a limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate and interact fluently in the English language.
- Ability to use a computer and office productivity tools efficiently.
- Ability to occasionally move/transport up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work at elevated heights and operate a Flight Simulator.
- Ability to manipulate applicable flight controls at full deflection.
- Ability to successfully pass an annual flight evaluation.
- Ability to converse, present, and facilitate instructional sessions for up to 8 hours.
- Ability to make/receive audible call outs clearly in classroom and/or simulator settings.
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a professional and well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards.
- Must be at least 23 years of age.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or possess current authorization to work in the United States without requiring present or future work authorization sponsorship.
- Must comply with established Company attendance standards.
- Must maintain professional behavior on, and off, Company hours and at all Company events.
- Must be available to work rotating shifts, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Strict adherence to confidentiality expectations regarding proprietary, confidential, and sensitive Company information is mandatory.
- Air travel with overnight stays is required.
- Ability to work extended hours as needed.
