The primary responsibility of a SkyWest Flight Attendant is to ensure passenger safety throughout the flight. This dynamic role also includes providing exceptional customer service while serving meals and beverages. Flight Attendants represent the essence of SkyWest to its customers and are expected to contribute to a positive and productive work environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers onboard the aircraft.
  • Consistently contributing to a positive and productive work environment with employees and customers.
  • Efficiently preparing, serving, and restocking in-flight beverages, meals, and snacks, and facilitating the sale of onboard liquor and food.
  • Greeting passengers, assisting with carry-on baggage stowage, and delivering onboard announcements.
  • Providing effective leadership, direction, and assistance in emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Calmly resolving passenger situations during flight, including disorderly passengers and medical emergencies.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations by inspecting and safely operating aircraft cabin components, systems, and emergency equipment.
  • Adhering to established procedures and performance standards without supervision.

Minimum requirements for this position are:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Must possess a current, valid U.S. or foreign passport valid for at least 12 months following the application date, with any applicable visas necessary for travel to the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
  • Excellent English communication skills are required to provide safety information and complete detailed reports of irregular, emergency, and security events.
  • Proficiency in using basic functions of electronic devices and PEDs to operate audio and video systems, collect and track in-flight purchases, and perform other flight and training duties.
  • Willingness to work varied shifts up to 16 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel frequently and spend lengthy periods of time alone and without supervision.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • Willingness to relocate to one of SkyWest's crew domiciles as assigned after completing SkyWest InFlight Training, including: Atlanta, GA; Boise, ID; Chicago, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Fresno, CA; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN; Palm Springs, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; and Tucson, AZ.

Physical and other requirements include:

  • Height between 5'0" and 6'0" without shoes, with weight proportional to ensure safe operation of aircraft, meeting specific aircraft dimensions.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring frequent walking, bending, reaching, opening emergency exits, closing aircraft doors (up to 45 pounds), pushing/pulling beverage carts (up to 250 pounds), and lifting and transporting items.
  • Corrected vision not exceeding 20/40.
  • Normal or corrected hearing range within 15-17kHz.
  • Professional, neat, and clean overall appearance.
  • No extreme hairstyles or colors permitted.
  • Limited piercings and visible tattoos are allowed, with restrictions on size, location, and subject matter.
  • Must wear a company-issued uniform and compliant face mask/covering as required.

New hire flight attendants are guaranteed 76 flight hours as a reserve after completing initial training (paid at 76 hours regardless of actual time flown) and are compensated at a rate of $28.86 per flight hour (base compensation of $2,193.36 gross per month). In addition to base compensation, $2.25 per diem is provided for every hour on duty away from the domicile.
