The primary responsibility of a Flight Attendant is to ensure passenger safety onboard the aircraft. This encompasses providing attentive care and delivering outstanding customer service, including meal and beverage service. The position offers a dynamic and exciting work environment with opportunities to travel, overcome new challenges, and represent the SkyWest brand. Key duties include ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers, contributing to a positive work environment, efficiently preparing and serving in-flight refreshments, assisting with baggage, delivering announcements, providing leadership in emergency situations, calmly resolving passenger issues, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and adhering to company procedures.
Minimum requirements include being at least 21 years of age, holding a high school diploma or equivalent, possessing a valid U.S. or foreign passport valid for at least 12 months following application and any required visas for travel between the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas. The role also requires excellent English communication skills, comfort with electronic devices, willingness to work varied shifts up to 16 hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, and the ability to travel frequently and work independently. Additionally, candidates must be reliable, punctual, and willing to relocate to one of the company's crew domiciles including Atlanta, GA; Boise, ID; Chicago, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Fresno, CA; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN; Palm Springs, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; and Tucson, AZ.
Physical requirements dictate a height between 5'0" and 6'0" without shoes, with height and weight suitable for safe operation of the aircraft. Candidates must be physically capable of performing tasks that include frequent walking, bending, reaching, opening emergency exits, moving beverage carts and lifting items. Visual acuity should be corrected to 20/40 and hearing within 15-17kHZ. A professional, neat, and clean appearance is necessary and some restrictions on hair styles, colors, piercings, and tattoos apply. Uniforms and face masks are mandatory.
New hire flight attendants are guaranteed 76 flight hours as a reserve after successfully completing the initial training phases. The starting pay is $28.86 per flight hour with a base compensation of $2,193.36 gross per month which does not include per diem pay of $2.25 per hour for every hour on duty away from the assigned domicile.
