Primary Responsibilities:
The primary duty of a SkyWest Flight Attendant is to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers throughout the flight. This includes:
- Maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for all passengers onboard the aircraft.
- Consistently contributing to a positive and productive workplace, fostering strong relationships with colleagues and customers.
- Efficiently preparing, serving, and restocking in-flight beverages, meals, and snacks, including the sale of onboard liquor and food items.
- Warmly greeting passengers, assisting with carry-on baggage stowage, and delivering clear and concise onboard announcements.
- Providing effective leadership and direction during both routine and emergency situations, ensuring passenger safety and well-being.
- Calmly resolving passenger issues during flight, including managing disruptive behavior and responding to medical emergencies.
- Meticulously inspecting and safely operating all aircraft cabin components, systems, and emergency equipment, including escape slides, fire extinguishers, portable oxygen bottles, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
- Adhering to established procedures and performance standards with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Must hold a current, valid U.S. or foreign passport, valid for at least 12 months following the application date, with any necessary visas for unrestricted travel between the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing, to deliver safety instructions to passengers and to prepare factual and detailed reports concerning incidents, emergencies, and security matters.
- Comfortable using basic electronic devices and Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) for operating audio and video systems, tracking in-flight purchases, and conducting other essential flight and training-related duties.
- Flexibility to work variable shifts up to 16 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capable of frequent travel and spending extended periods alone and without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
- Must be willing to relocate to one of the assigned crew domiciles post-successful completion of SkyWest Inflight Training. Current domiciles include Atlanta, GA; Boise, ID; Chicago, IL; Colorado Springs, CO; Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Fresno, CA; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN; Palm Springs, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Portland, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; San Diego, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; and Tucson, AZ.
Physical and Additional Requirements:
- Height between 5'0" and 6'0" (without shoes), and weight proportionate to safely operate the aircraft and remain within aircraft-specific limitations, including the ability to sit in the jump seat and fasten the harness.
- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring frequent walking, bending, and reaching, as well as operating emergency exits, aircraft doors, and beverage carts.
- Corrected vision not to exceed 20/40.
- Normal or corrected hearing within 15-17kHZ range.
- Maintain a consistently professional, neat, and clean appearance.
- No extreme hairstyles or colors.
- Single stud nose piercings (2mm or smaller) and two ear piercings are permissible. Gauges must be plugged with clear or skin-toned plugs, not exceeding ½”. Other facial, mouth, and tongue piercings are not allowed.
- Visible tattoos are permitted within specific guidelines regarding size and placement. Tattoos that do not meet these criteria must be covered by uniform or skin-tone compatible makeup. Offensive tattoos must not be visible at any time.
- Must wear a company-issued uniform and compliant face mask/covering as required.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Guaranteed 76 flight hours per month for reserve flight attendants (paid at 76 hours even if fewer hours are flown).
- Starting pay of $28.86 per flight hour, with a base monthly compensation of $2,193.36, in addition to per diem.
- Per diem of $2.25 per hour while on duty away from the assigned domicile.
