Role Summary

The Captain, occupying the left-hand seat, assumes ultimate command of the flight, maintaining the highest personal and professional standards at all times. The primary focus is on ensuring flights are safe, comfortable, and consistently on schedule. Serving as both a leader and a vital team member, the Captain sets a positive example and contributes to the development of the team to deliver the characteristic passenger experience.

Key Responsibilities

Assuming command from the left-hand seat, the Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient conduct of all flights. This involves upholding the highest personal and professional standards, prioritizing flight safety, passenger comfort, and punctuality on every flight. As a leader, the Captain guides and mentors team members, fostering an environment that enables the delivery of excellent service to all passengers.

E190 Requirements

Pilots with Jet experience:

  • Possess a minimum of 3,500 total flight hours on aeroplanes with a Maximum Take-Off Mass (MTMA) of 5,700kg or more.
  • Hold a minimum of 1,000 Pilot-in-Command (PIC) hours (excluding P1 U/S hours) on multi-engine jet, commercial airline transport aircraft certified for multi-crew operation.

Pilots without Jet experience:

  • Possess a minimum of 4,000 total flight hours on aeroplanes with a Maximum Take-Off Mass (MTMA) of 5,700kg or more.
  • Hold a minimum of 2,000 Pilot-in-Command (PIC) hours (excluding P1 U/S hours) on multi-engine turboprop, commercial airline transport aircraft certified for multi-crew operation.

Licensing Requirements

  • Must hold a Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) issued ICAO ATPL. Foreign ATPL holders will be required to undergo license conversion, which necessitates a valid instrument rating and a proficiency check with a minimum of 6 months' validity.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to speak and understand English to a minimum of ICAO level 4 proficiency.
  • Must satisfy all vaccination requirements as mandated by CAAS.

Training Co-Payment & Training Bond

  • Where applicable, successful candidates will receive training to obtain an Aircraft Type Rating for the assigned fleet.
  • Candidates provided with type rating training will be subject to a co-payment towards the training cost and will be required to enter into a training bond agreement.

Selection Process

  • Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete a series of online aptitude tests.
  • Following the online assessment, shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre in Singapore. The Assessment Centre includes a group stage and an individual interview.
  • Successful candidates from the Assessment Centre will be required to attend a Simulator Assessment and MMPI Assessment over a two-day period.
