Flight Attendant
Airlines is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Flight Attendant to ensure the safety, security, and comfort of passengers. The Flight Attendant provides exceptional customer service while adhering to all FAA and company regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs all regulatory and assigned cabin duties with constant attention to guests while providing a safe and comfortable onboard experience.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and operates all emergency equipment, including emergency exits, using necessary movements and force up to 70 pounds.
- Provides food and beverage service to passengers, which includes pushing and pulling moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Assists passengers with stowing carry-on baggage weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Maintains a neat and orderly cabin environment.
- Contributes to reliable and on-time operations by collaborating with crewmembers to meet report, departure, and turn times.
- Performs inflight sales and promotional duties as assigned.
- Assists other customer service staff with passenger handling or other duties as needed.
- Maintains reliable and prompt attendance in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Presents a professional image in conduct and appearance, adhering to the company uniform dress code.
- Complies with associate Rules of Conduct as outlined in all applicable manuals.
- Maintains currency of inflight guides and manuals.
- Fosters the company’s core values and culture.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
- Ability to speak and be understood in English, including shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.
- Willingness to work in a time-sensitive environment and effectively handle stress associated with deadlines and unexpected changes.
- Capability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to remain calm, think, and react quickly in emergency situations, including medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, and turbulence.
- Ability to make day-to-day decisions to support operations, often requiring structured thought processes.
- Ability to process information quickly and react positively during unexpected or serious situations.
- Capability to control personal and emotional responses and act appropriately under high levels of stress.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED with at least two years of customer service experience.
- Must be 20 years of age by the date of the first interview.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Additional years of customer service experience, preferably in an aviation environment.
- Previous Flight Attendant experience.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to reach and operate emergency equipment and exits using necessary movements and force up to 70 pounds.
- Capability to lift objects above shoulders up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, sometimes with aircraft turbulence.
- Ability to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
- Ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
- Ability to clearly hear verbal communications in person and over airplane communication systems with ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Ability to sit in assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
- Ability to move about aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly in a confined environment.
- Ability to work extended duty periods on sequential days.
Other Requirements:
- Possesses polished interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset.
- Willing to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Must be able and willing to serve and handle peanuts, meals containing shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
- Able to work with animals and around other allergens and products.
- Must have a wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater to reach and safely operate all necessary equipment on the aircraft.
- For safety reasons must have the ability to sit in the Flight Attendant jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without extender or other modification that may harm the integrity of the harness.
- Must not have multiple piercings visible while in uniform.
Work Environment:
- Willing to work in a culturally diverse atmosphere and professionally interact with passengers and crew under stressful conditions.
- Ability to accommodate customers’ special needs/disabilities.
- Willing and able to work for extended periods and on a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.
Travel Requirements:
Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights. Willing to relocate based on the company’s operational needs.
