Flight Attendant
This individual is responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers, adhering to both FAA and Inflight guidelines. The Flight Attendant performs essential cabin duties with constant attention to passenger needs, providing a safe and pleasant onboard experience. This role requires thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and equipment, including the operation of emergency exits and aircraft equipment. The Flight Attendant will also be responsible for providing food and beverage service, which requires pushing and pulling carts that may weigh over 250 pounds, as well as assisting passengers with carry-on baggage weighing up to 35 pounds. Maintaining a neat and orderly cabin environment is also a key responsibility.
The ideal candidate will contribute to a reliable and punctual operation by collaborating with crew members to meet all report, departure, and minimum turn times. The Flight Attendant is also responsible for performing in-flight sales and promotional duties as assigned and may be required to assist other customer service staff with passenger handling or other tasks. The Flight Attendant will maintain reliable attendance, adhering to company policies and procedures. A professional image is required in both conduct and appearance, and the employee must comply with the company uniform dress code. The role also requires compliance with associate Rules of Conduct as outlined in all applicable manuals, as well as maintaining current knowledge of inflight guides and manuals. The Flight Attendant is also expected to foster the company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of two years of customer service experience.
- Must be at least 20 years of age by the first interview date.
- Polished interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and customer-oriented approach.
- Willingness to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Ability to handle and serve peanuts and meals containing shellfish, beef, and pork.
- Ability to work with animals and around other allergens and products.
- Adherence to dress code, including restrictions on visible tattoos.
- Wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater.
- Ability to sit in the flight attendant jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened, without modification.
- Must not have multiple piercings visible while in uniform.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information to management, crew, passengers, and the public.
- Proficient in spoken and understood English, including shouted verbal commands during emergencies.
- Willingness to work in a time-sensitive environment, effectively handling stress associated with deadlines and unexpected changes.
- Capacity to interpret diverse instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to remain calm and react quickly in all types of emergency situations.
- Ability to make day-to-day decisions that support operations.
- Capability to process information rapidly and react positively in unexpected or serious situations.
- Ability to control personal and emotional responses under high-stress conditions.
Physical Demands:
- Must possess the physical strength to operate emergency equipment and exits using necessary movements and force up to 70 pounds.
- Capable of lifting objects above shoulders up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, sometimes with aircraft turbulence.
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
- Able to see clearly at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
- Able to clearly hear verbal communication in person and over aircraft communication systems.
- Must be able to sit in the assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened, without modification.
- Must be able to move freely, effectively, and quickly in a confined environment.
- Able to work extended duty periods on sequential days.
Work Environment:
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and professionally interact with passengers and crew under stressful conditions.
- Ability to accommodate customers’ special needs and disabilities.
- Willingness and ability to work for extended periods as well as a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.
Travel Requirements:
Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays and overnight. Willing to relocate based on company’s operational needs.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- Additional years of customer service experience, preferably in an aviation environment.
- Previous Flight Attendant experience.
