Flight Attendant
Overview
This position ensures the safety and comfort of passengers aboard Republic Airways flights, adhering to all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Inflight guidelines. The Flight Attendant is responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable onboard experience for all passengers.
Essential Duties
The Flight Attendant will:
- Perform all regulatory and assigned cabin duties, maintaining constant attention to passenger needs.
- Possess a thorough understanding of all emergency procedures and operate all emergency equipment, including those requiring a force of up to 70 pounds.
- Provide food and beverage service to passengers, requiring the ability to push and pull movable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Assist passengers in stowing carry-on baggage, lifting up to 35 pounds.
- Maintain a neat and orderly cabin environment.
- Contribute to a reliable and on-time operation by coordinating with crewmembers to meet all report, departure, and minimum turn times.
- Perform inflight sales and promotional duties as assigned.
- Assist other Customer Service staff as needed with passenger handling or other duties.
- Maintain reliable and prompt attendance, following company policies and procedures.
- Present a professional image in both conduct and appearance, adhering to the Company uniform dress code.
- Comply with associate Rules of Conduct as outlined in all applicable manuals.
- Maintain currency of Inflight guides and manuals.
- Foster the Company’s core values and culture throughout the work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED, with at least two years of customer service experience.
- Age Requirement: Must be 20 years of age by the date of the first interview.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
- Additional years of customer service experience, preferably in an aviation environment.
- Previous Flight Attendant experience.
Other Requirements
- Polished interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Willingness and ability to serve and handle peanuts, meals containing shellfish/seafood, beef and pork.
- Ability to work with animals and around other allergens and products.
- Pursuant to Republic’s Flight Attendant Style Guide (Dress Code), tattoos are NOT permitted on the head, face, neck (including behind the ear), chest, hands, or fingers. Visible tattoos are permitted on the arms, wrist, legs, ankles, and feet if less than 2” x 3.25”; otherwise, they must be fully covered by a listed, approved tattoo coverage method.
- A wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater to safely operate all necessary equipment on the aircraft.
- Ability to sit in the Flight Attendant jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without extender or other modification that may harm the integrity of the harness (lap belt measurement 50 inches, shoulder harness measurement 40 inches when fastened).
- No visible multiple piercings while in uniform.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling presentation of information to and responding to questions from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
- Fluency in spoken English, including the ability to be understood in shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.
Reasoning/Problem Solving Ability
- Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment and effectively handle stress associated with meeting deadlines and managing unexpected change.
- Capability of interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to remain calm, think, and react quickly in all types of emergency situations, including but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, turbulence, etc.

- Ability to make day-to-day decisions to support operations.
- Capacity to process information quickly and react in a positive manner during unexpected and/or serious situations.
- Capability of controlling personal and emotional responses and acting appropriately under high levels of stress.
Physical Demands
- Physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, using necessary movements and force up to and including 70 pounds.
- Capability of lifting objects above shoulders up to and including 35 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull movable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, sometimes with aircraft turbulence.
- Ability to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
- Clear vision at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
- Ability to clearly hear verbal communications in person and over airplane communication systems with ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Ability to sit in assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
- Ability to move about aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly in a confined environment.
- Ability to work extended duty periods on sequential days.
Work Environment
- Ability and willingness to work in a culturally diverse atmosphere and professionally interact with passengers and crew under stressful conditions.
- Capability to accommodate customers' special needs/disabilities.
- Willingness and ability to work for extended periods of time as well as a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.
Travel Requirements
- Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
- Willingness to relocate based on the Company’s operational needs.
