Flight Attendant
Overview
Republic Airways seeks a highly motivated and service-oriented individual to join our team as a Flight Attendant. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safety and comfort of our passengers while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.
Position Purpose
The Flight Attendant is responsible for providing a safe and comfortable onboard experience for all passengers, adhering to all FAA and Inflight guidelines. This includes performing essential cabin duties, demonstrating exceptional customer service, and maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in all situations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all regulatory and assigned cabin duties while prioritizing passenger safety and comfort.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all emergency procedures and the use of onboard safety equipment.
- Operate all emergency exits and aircraft equipment, requiring the ability to exert force up to 70 pounds.
- Provide food and beverage service to passengers, which involves pushing and pulling carts exceeding 250 pounds.
- Assist passengers with stowing carry-on baggage, up to 35 pounds.
- Maintain a clean and orderly cabin environment.
- Contribute to a reliable and on-time operation by coordinating with crew members to meet all report times, departure times, and minimum turn times.
- Execute inflight sales and promotional duties as assigned.
- Assist other Customer Service staff as needed with passenger handling or other tasks.
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance according to Company policies and procedures.
- Project a professional image through conduct and appearance, adhering to the Company uniform dress code.
- Comply with associate Rules of Conduct as outlined in applicable manuals.
- Stay current on all Inflight guides and manuals.
- Foster the Company's core values and culture throughout the work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two years of customer service experience.
- Must be 20 years of age by the date of the first interview.
- Preferred Education and Experience:
- Additional years of customer service experience, preferably in an aviation environment.
- Previous Flight Attendant experience.
Other Requirements
- Possess polished interpersonal skills, exhibiting a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Ability and willingness to serve and handle various food items, including peanuts, shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
- Capability to work with animals and around other allergens and products.
- In accordance with Republic's Flight Attendant Style Guide, tattoos are not permitted on the head, face, neck (including behind the ear), chest, hands, or fingers. Visible tattoos are permitted on the arms, wrist, legs, ankles, and feet if less than 2" x 3.25"; otherwise, they must be fully covered by an approved tattoo coverage method.
- Must have a wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater to reach and safely operate all necessary equipment on the aircraft.
- For safety reasons, must have the ability to sit in the Flight Attendant jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without extender or other modification.
- Must not have multiple piercings visible while in uniform.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Effective communication skills for presenting information to and responding to questions from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
- Fluency in English, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.
Reasoning and Problem Solving
- Must be willing to work in a time-sensitive environment and effectively manage stress associated with meeting deadlines and handling unexpected changes.
- Capability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to remain calm, think clearly, and react quickly in all types of emergency situations, including but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, turbulence, etc.
Decision Making
- Makes day-to-day decisions to support operational needs. Decisions often require thoughtful consideration and are somewhat structured.
- Ability to process information quickly and react positively during unexpected and/or serious situations.
- Capability to manage personal and emotional responses and act appropriately under high levels of stress.
Physical Demands
- Possess the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits using necessary movements and force up to and including 70 pounds.
- Capable of lifting objects above shoulders up to and including 35 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, sometimes with aircraft turbulence.
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
- Clear vision at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
- Clear hearing for verbal communications in person and over airplane communication systems with ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Must be able to sit in assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
- Ability to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly in a confined environment.
- Ability to work extended duty periods on sequential days.
Work Environment
- Ability and willingness to work in a culturally diverse atmosphere and professionally interact with passengers and crew under stressful conditions.
- Capability to accommodate customers' special needs/disabilities.
- Willingness and ability to work for extended periods of time as well as a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.
Travel Requirements
- Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights.
- Willingness to relocate based on the Company's operational needs.
