Flight Attendant
Overview
This position ensures the safety and comfort of passengers in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Inflight guidelines.
Essential Duties
The Flight Attendant is responsible for:
- Performing all regulatory and assigned cabin duties while prioritizing guest safety and comfort.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of all emergency procedures and equipment onboard the aircraft.
- Operating all emergency exits and aircraft equipment, which may require the exertion of up to 70 pounds of force.
- Providing food and beverage service to passengers, requiring the ability to push and pull mobile carts exceeding 250 pounds in weight.
- Assisting passengers with stowing carry-on baggage weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Maintaining a clean and organized cabin environment.
- Contributing to on-time operations by collaborating with crewmembers to meet reporting, departure, and minimum turn times.
- Performing inflight sales and promotional duties as assigned.
- Assisting other Customer Service staff with passenger handling or other duties as needed.
- Maintaining reliable and punctual attendance in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Presenting a professional image through conduct and appearance, adhering to the Company's uniform dress code.
- Complying with the Associate Rules of Conduct as outlined in all applicable manuals.
- Staying current with Inflight guides and manuals.
- Promoting the Company's core values and culture within the work environment.
- Performing additional duties as assigned or required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High school diploma or GED, with at least two years of customer service experience.
- Must be 20 years of age by the date of the first interview.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
- Additional years of customer service experience, preferably in an aviation environment.
- Prior experience as a Flight Attendant.
Other Requirements
- Possession of polished interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Ability and willingness to serve and handle peanuts, meals containing shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
- Ability to work with animals and around other allergens and products.
- Pursuant to Republic's Flight Attendant Style Guide, tattoos are NOT permitted on the head, face, neck (including behind the ear), chest, hands, or fingers. Visible tattoos are permitted on the arms, wrist, legs, ankles, and feet if less than 2" x 3.25"; otherwise, they must be fully covered by a listed, approved tattoo coverage method.
- Possession of a wingspan of approximately 55 inches or greater to safely reach and operate all necessary equipment on the aircraft.
- For safety reasons, the ability to sit in the Flight Attendant jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without extender or other modification that may compromise the harness integrity (lap belt measurement of 50 inches when fastened and shoulder harness measurement of 40 inches when fastened).
- No visible multiple piercings while in uniform.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Effective communication skills to present information and respond to questions from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
- Fluency in English, including the ability to shout verbal commands during emergency situations.
Reasoning/Problem Solving Ability
- Willingness to work in a time-sensitive environment and effectively manage stress associated with meeting deadlines and managing unexpected changes.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to remain calm, think, and react quickly in all types of emergency situations, including (but not limited to) medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, turbulence, etc.

- Makes day-to-day decisions to support operations. Decisions often require thought and are somewhat structured.
- Ability to process information quickly and react positively during unexpected or serious situations.
- Ability to control personal and emotional responses and act appropriately under high levels of stress.
Physical Demands
- Possession of the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, using necessary movements and force up to and including 70 pounds.
- Ability to lift objects above shoulders weighing up to and including 35 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, sometimes with aircraft turbulence.
- Ability to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
- Clear vision at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
- Ability to clearly hear verbal communications in person and over airplane communication systems, despite ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
- Ability to sit in the assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
- Ability to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly in a confined environment.
- Ability to work extended duty periods on sequential days.
Work Environment
- Ability and willingness to work in a culturally diverse atmosphere and professionally interact with passengers and crew under stressful conditions.
- Ability to accommodate customers' special needs/disabilities.
- Willingness and ability to work for extended periods of time, including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.
Travel Requirements
- Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
- Willingness to relocate based on the Company's operational needs.
