Flight Attendant Job Description

Republic Airways seeks a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join its team as a Flight Attendant. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers while upholding the highest standards of customer service and professionalism.

Position Purpose:

The Flight Attendant is responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable onboard experience for all passengers, adhering to all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Inflight guidelines. This role encompasses a wide range of duties, including:

Essential Duties:

  • Performing all regulatory and assigned cabin duties with unwavering attention to guest needs, prioritizing safety and comfort throughout the flight.
  • Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of emergency procedures and the use of all emergency equipment onboard the aircraft. Proficiency in operating all emergency exits and aircraft equipment, utilizing necessary movements and force up to and including 70 pounds.
  • Providing food and beverage service to passengers, requiring the ability to push and pull moveable carts exceeding 250 pounds.
  • Assisting passengers with stowing carry-on baggage weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Maintaining a neat and orderly cabin environment, contributing to a positive passenger experience.
  • Collaborating with fellow crew members to ensure a reliable and on-time operation, meeting all report times, departure times, and minimum turn times.
  • Performing assigned inflight sales and promotional duties.
  • Providing assistance to other Customer Service staff as needed, handling passenger inquiries and fulfilling various duties.
  • Maintaining reliable and prompt attendance, adhering to Company policies and procedures.
  • Presenting a professional image at all times, both in conduct and appearance, including strict adherence to the Company uniform dress code.
  • Complying with all associate Rules of Conduct as outlined in applicable manuals.
  • Maintaining currency of all Inflight guides and manuals.
  • Promoting the Company's core values and culture throughout the work environment.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned or required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED, coupled with a minimum of two years of customer service experience.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age by the date of the first interview.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Additional years of customer service experience, preferably within an aviation environment.
  • Previous Flight Attendant experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Possess polished and professional interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset.
  • Must be willing and able to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Must be able and willing to serve and handle various food items, including peanuts, meals containing shellfish/seafood, beef, and pork.
  • Able to work with animals and around other allergens and products.
  • Must not have tattoos visible on any parts of the head, face, neck, chest, or hands.
  • Must not have more than two earrings per earlobe.
  • Must not have facial piercings.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of presenting information to and responding to questions from management, crew, passengers, and the general public.
  • Fluency in English, including the ability to speak and be understood clearly, especially during shouted verbal commands in emergency situations.

Reasoning/Problem Solving Ability:

  • Must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage stress associated with meeting deadlines and adapting to unexpected changes.
  • Capable of interpreting a variety of instructions, both written and oral, including diagrams and schedules.
  • Must be able to remain calm, think clearly, and react quickly in all types of emergency situations, including but not limited to: medical emergencies, aircraft decompression, emergency evacuations, fires, security threats, passenger disturbances, turbulence, etc.

Decision Making:

  • Makes daily decisions to support the operation. These decisions often require careful thought and are typically structured.
  • Able to process information quickly and react positively during unexpected or serious situations.
  • Possesses emotional intelligence and the ability to control personal responses and act appropriately under high levels of stress.

Physical Demands:

  • Must possess the physical strength to reach and operate all emergency equipment and exits, utilizing necessary movements and force up to and including 70 pounds.
  • Capable of lifting objects above shoulders weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Able to push and pull moveable carts weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
  • Able to walk and stand for extended periods, sometimes in the presence of aircraft turbulence.
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, climb, and kneel.
  • Clear vision at 20 feet or more with corrective lenses or contacts.
  • Clear hearing of verbal communications both in person and over airplane communication systems, even with ambient aircraft and passenger noise.
  • Must be able to sit in assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened without any modifications.
  • Must be able to move about the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly in confined environments.
  • Able to work extended duty periods on sequential days.

Work Environment:

  • Able and willing to work in a culturally diverse atmosphere and professionally interact with passengers and crew under stressful conditions.
  • The ability to accommodate customers' special needs and disabilities.
  • Willing and able to work for extended periods of time as well as a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, overnights, and weekends.

Travel Requirements:

Travel up to 100% of the time, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays. Willingness to relocate based on the Company's operational needs.
