Pilot-in-Command
An established aviation department is seeking a skilled and experienced Pilot-in-Command to join a professional team operating a fleet of four aircraft with a team of 15 pilots and 5 cabin attendants. This role involves operating a modern fleet across diverse missions, with operations consisting of approximately two-thirds North American missions and one-third international travel (South America, Europe, Asia). The Pilot-in-Command plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and comfort of all flights for passengers and crew.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as Pilot-in-Command, supervising flight crew and ensuring all flight and ground operations comply with FAA regulations.
- Maintain ultimate responsibility for the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft.
- Determine optimal route, speed, and takeoff/landing times to meet demanding scheduling requirements.
- Lead and participate in comprehensive mission planning, collaborating with trip coordinators and international handlers as applicable.
- Make critical operational decisions regarding potential delays, re-routing, or flight cancellations.
- Perform additional general departmental duties as required, including active participation in crew meetings when not flying.
Location & Schedule:
This position is primarily based at DTW (Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport), with occasional operations from Waterford, MI, based on the last flight of the assigned aircraft. Candidates selected for this position must reside within a two-hour radius of DTW. Crew members serving this account have averaged approximately 16 workdays per month in 2024, with seasonal increases and decreases in activity.
Qualifications:
- Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate
- Minimum of 4,000 hours of Total Flight Time
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- International experience on large cabin Gulfstream aircraft (preferred)
- Experience operating the G550 aircraft (preferred)
- Proven ability to manage and adapt to a dynamic and changing work schedule
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an FAA First Class medical certification
- Ability to meet customer requirement for full vaccination against COVID-19
