Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technical Pilot (MTP) serves as the Pilot in Command (PIC) primarily responsible for the safe operation of Part 91 flights, ensuring compliance with all appropriate PSA manuals, handbooks, and documents for PSA pilots. This role utilizes excellent communication and teamwork, along with extensive knowledge of company operations and manuals, to contribute to the continuous improvement of PSA policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating with other crewmembers to ensure safe and reliable flight operations.
  • Complying with all applicable FARs, TSA, and DOT regulations, as well as company procedures and policies.
  • Adhering to all administrative programs, including airport/route qualification, flight time limitations, currency requirements (such as medicals, takeoffs and landings, home study courses), pilot flight equipment, uniform standards, manuals, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensuring pilot appearance, attendance, and personal conduct align with Company policy, the Part 91 Policy and Procedures Handbook, company culture, and core values.
  • Exercising full authority and responsibility for all crewmembers and the safe and efficient conduct of the flight, commencing at the time crewmembers report for duty and continuing until they have gone off duty for a rest period.
  • Submitting required reports on irregularities or incidents.
  • Actively promoting positive attitudes towards company culture, core values, compliance, and safety.
  • Immediately notifying the Chief MTP of any discrepancy or incident that could affect the pilot's or Company's ability to perform within the parameters of safety, regulatory compliance, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Conducting a visual pre-flight and post-flight (walk-around) inspection prior to each flight.
  • Maintaining and demonstrating a working knowledge of FAA requirements, Company, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Contributing to the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Position Specifics

Qualifications:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a PSA Captain with 121-line experience.
  • Must possess an FCC Restricted Radio Operator's Permit.
  • Must hold a valid First Class Medical Certificate.
  • Must be in possession of a valid US or Foreign Passport with applicable VISAs prior to commencing training.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
  • Must be able to demonstrate authorization to work in the U.S. upon hire.

Additional Information:

Delegation: In the absence of the Maintenance Technical Pilot, responsibilities may be delegated to the Chief Maintenance Technical Pilot.

Authorities:

  • Take necessary action to resolve any problems or situations that may compromise safety or compliance.
  • Direct the Flight Crew in a safe and efficient manner to meet the operational requirements of the Company.

Supervisory Responsibility: This is a supervisory position.

Work Environment: The primary work environment is a professional office setting, routinely utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands: The physical demands include the ability to talk or hear, and while largely sedentary, the role frequently requires standing, walking, climbing up and down stairs, lifting weight up to 25 lbs, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms.
