Position Summary
Executive Jet Management, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking qualified candidates for a Pilot in Command position aboard a Gulfstream 650 aircraft. This role is based in Columbus, Ohio (KCMH). The operation functions as a 3-pilot account, supported by a dedicated Maintenance Technician and Cabin Attendant, flying under Part 91 regulations. The position involves flying approximately 275 hours annually and operates on a known schedule. Well-qualified candidates will possess a type rating and significant experience with the G650 and must reside within two hours of Columbus, OH. The Pilot in Command holds the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the aircraft is operated in a safe, compliant, and efficient manner. This professional complies with all company and regulatory requirements while simultaneously delivering an exceptional service experience to passengers.
Key Responsibilities
The Pilot in Command's duties encompass a range of critical tasks aimed at ensuring flight safety, delivering superior service, and maintaining professional compliance. Responsibilities include:
Ensuring the Safe Operation of Flight:
- Confirming all crewing and trip assignments adhere to company and regulatory requirements.
- Completing comprehensive flight planning, performance calculations, and weight and balance tasks for each assigned flight.
- Leading required briefings using the Threats, Plans and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to effectively mitigate operational risks.
- Adhering strictly to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinating with company personnel as necessary. Serving as the designated Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator in accordance with company policy.
- Performing all necessary aircraft pre-flight tasks, including verifying the maintenance status, to ensure the aircraft is fully mission capable. Accurately recording all aircraft discrepancies following company SOPs.
- Monitoring and overseeing the proper accomplishment of all aircraft ground servicing items, such as fueling, oil, and oxygen, in accordance with SOPs.
- Conducting thorough passenger briefings as required by company policy and regulations. Delivering the highest level of customer service and accommodating any special passenger needs.
- Effectively utilizing Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) techniques to ensure clear and timely communication with the crew and support personnel during normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.
Delivering an Exceptional Service Experience:
- Providing quality service to aircraft owners and passengers, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the overall EJM service experience. Investigating and resolving any service deviations promptly.
- Collaborating effectively with fellow crew members and internal EJM departments to ensure a consistent and seamless service experience for owners and passengers. Resolving conflicts and challenges in a professional manner.
Maintaining Proficiency and Compliance:
- Maintaining all required regulatory and company training qualifications and ensuring recency of experience is current.
- Complying with the company SMS program and reporting any safety or non-compliance concerns through the appropriate channels.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates for this Pilot in Command position should possess the following:
- Prior experience in corporate or business aviation is preferred.
- Hold a current FAA Type rating for the applicable fleet type (Gulfstream 650 / G650).
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Meet the following minimum flight time requirements:
- Total flight time: 3500 hours
- Multi Engine Land (MEL): 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command: 2000 hours
- PIC MEL: 500 hours
- Instrument: 300 hours
- Jet: 500 hours
- Must be typed and experienced in the Gulfstream 650 (G650).
- Must reside within a two-hour commuting distance of the aircraft's base in Columbus, Ohio (KCMH).
