Position Summary
The Second in Command (SIC) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft. Reporting directly to the Base Chief Pilot, the SIC assists the Pilot in Command (PIC) in all aspects of flight preparation and execution, strictly adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and established company procedures. This position requires a steadfast commitment to aviation safety, operational excellence, and exceptional decision-making skills within a dynamic corporate aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Second in Command will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following essential functions:
- Assisting the Pilot in Command (PIC) in all phases of flight, including comprehensive pre-flight planning, vigilant in-flight operations, and meticulous post-flight duties for the Hawker 900XP.
- Managing duty, flight, and rest times in strict accordance with company policies and Federal Aviation Regulations (CFRs).
- Maintaining consistent and clear communication with the company regarding standby duty assignments, trip notifications, position calls, and comprehensive pre- and post-flight reports.
- Ensuring the accurate maintenance and diligent management of Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) hardware and applications.
- Verifying the currency of all navigation charts, aviation publications, and company operational manuals.
- Demonstrating strong, proactive decision-making skills to uphold the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following minimum flight experience requirements:
- Total Flight Time: 1500 hours
- Pilot in Command (PIC) Time: 500 hours
- Multi-Engine Time: 500 hours
- Turbine Time: 100 hours
- Instrument Time: 150 hours
Additional Requirements
- Possession of a current First Class FAA Medical Certificate.
- Current FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate, or the ability to obtain one.
- Valid FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. driver's license.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Possession of a current, valid passport with unrestricted ability to travel to Canada and Caribbean countries.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and willingness to submit to random drug and alcohol testing as required by FAA regulations.
- Ability to authorize and successfully pass an FAA Pilot Record Database (PRD) review with a System Chief Pilot.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional work experience.
- Willingness and ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by operational schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of initial or recurrent FAA Part 142 training in the Hawker 900XP aircraft type within the last 24 months.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- The majority of work is performed in and around aircraft and within private jet terminals.
- This role requires the ability to frequently move and lift up to 50 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits
Jet Linx offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package designed to attract and retain top aviation talent. The starting base annual salary for this Second in Command position ranges from $89,000 to $125,000, with the actual salary determined by geographic location, aircraft type (crew positions), and the candidate's relevant education, training, and experience.
