Position Summary

The Pilot in Command (PIC) reports to the Lead Captain and is responsible for adhering to company operating policies and procedures. This critical role ensures the safe and efficient execution of all flight assignments, with an unwavering emphasis on safety, security, and quality. The PIC holds the ultimate authority for the safe conduct of all assigned flights, exercising command responsibility throughout each mission.

Minimum Requirements

  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
  • Possession and maintenance of a current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
  • A minimum of 3,500 hours of Total Fixed-Wing flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours of Multi-Engine Land flight time.
  • A minimum of 2,000 hours as Pilot in Command.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours of Turbojet flight time.
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours of Turbine flight time.
  • A minimum of 100 hours of Night flight time.
  • A minimum of 75 hours of Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
  • A minimum of 5 years of cumulative aviation experience.
  • Must be available to work flexible schedules.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the aircraft, determine optimal departure times and routes, and judiciously cancel flights when necessitated by weather or other critical conditions.
  • Ensure all flights are conducted in strict adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Implement all necessary adjustments to flight plans or operations based on en-route conditions, maintaining compliance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Conduct all flights in a safe and prudent manner, aligning with industry best practices and company standards.
  • Accurately complete all required trip paperwork in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure a thorough and complete understanding of all flight aspects with the Second in Command.
  • Document all aircraft discrepancies as they occur in the aircraft discrepancy log and promptly report these issues to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Assess deferral or repair requirements based on the approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and directorial guidance, completing the discrepancy log as required.
  • Verify that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
  • Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all authorized aircraft systems, including all emergency systems and associated procedures.
  • Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging for hangar storage when deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
  • Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
  • File, or ensure the filing of, flight plans with the FAA or an ICAO state Air Traffic Control facility.
  • Analyze area, en-route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
  • Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the applicable twelve five standard security program or private charter standard security program.
  • Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate this duty to the Second in Command.
  • Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them for assuming PIC duties in an emergency or during upgrade training.
  • Complete and submit the leg manifest to Operations Control prior to each departure.
  • Complete and submit the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control upon completion of each flight day.
  • Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
  • Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
  • While duties may be delegated, the responsibility for those duties remains with the Pilot in Command.
  • Undertake other duties as required.
  • Represent Jet Aviation as a unified company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employees must be able to work effectively in both heavy maintenance environments and upscale customer-facing areas. The noise level is typically moderate, with occasional high volumes during aircraft arrivals and departures. Employees may be frequently exposed to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. The role requires a willingness and ability to work in all types of weather conditions. The hangar environment may experience extreme temperatures (hot and cold) depending on the season. The general noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
