Lead Captain
Jet Aviation, a global aviation leader since 1967, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Captain. With a steadfast commitment to safety, security, and quality, the Lead Captain will exercise Pilot-in-Command authority on assigned flights and serve as the final authority for ensuring the safe conduct of each flight. Reporting to the Regional Chief Pilot, the Lead Captain will adhere to all company operating policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Must obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- A minimum of 4000 hours of total fixed-wing flight time.
- A minimum of 1500 hours of multi-engine land flight time.
- A minimum of 2000 hours of Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- A minimum of 1500 hours of turbojet flight time.
- A minimum of 1500 hours of turbine flight time.
- A minimum of 100 hours of night flight time.
- A minimum of 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument flight time.
- A minimum of 5 years of aviation experience.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules.
- Willing to travel worldwide extensively and without any restrictions.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determine departure times and routes, and/or cancel flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure that each flight is conducted in complete compliance with all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate the aircraft schedule and training with the flight crew and Customer Service Representative (CSR), using supplemental crew as needed.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager regarding aircraft servicing, cleaning, etc.
- Ensure assigned crew members submit and review flight and duty records, and all other required documentation.
- Ensure aircraft manuals and Jeppesen charts/EFBs are current and delegate responsibilities as needed.
- In conjunction with the Manager of Training, coordinate crew member training and check rides based on the annual training calendar.
- Coordinate time off and training events with crew members while maintaining maximum aircraft coverage.
- Determine that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Mentor and coach crew members to assist in their professional development.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned crew members.
- Attend Lead Captain meetings.
- Assist the Account Director as requested.
- Assist in the hiring of flight crew.
- Institute all necessary changes as required by en route conditions such that the flight may continue under appropriate company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights safely and prudently in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork in accordance with current procedures.
- Ensure a thorough and complete understanding with the Second-in-Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies as they occur on the aircraft discrepancy log and immediately report these discrepancies to the Director of Maintenance or their designee as soon as possible. Refer to the approved MEL and, as directed by the DOM or his designee, determine if the inoperative item can be deferred or needs to be repaired and complete the aircraft discrepancy log as required.
- Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems which they are authorized to operate, to include all emergency systems and procedures associated with the aircraft.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage if deemed necessary or instructed to do so by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or cause a flight plan to be filed with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the airport of intended landing and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provision of the twelve-five standard security program or private charter standard security program, as applicable.
- Conduct the required passenger safety briefings or assign that duty to the Second-in-Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second-in-Command to prepare them to assume the duties of Pilot-in-Command in an emergency or when the Second-in-Command upgrades to Pilot-in-Command in that aircraft.
- Complete and send the leg manifest to Operations Control prior to each departure.
- Complete and send the End of Day (EOD) report to Operations Control upon completion of each flight day.
- Take an active role in supporting the open sharing of information on all safety issues and reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties as needed, but retain ultimate responsibility for those duties.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.

Physical Demands:
The employee is required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel, or reach; stand, walk, or sit; and occasionally climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level is usually moderate, with occasional high volume when aircraft arrive/depart. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration, and occasional fuel fumes may permeate the workplace. The employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons.
Compensation:
The likely salary range for this position is $318,000 - $380,000. Salary will be determined based on experience, geographic location, and other requirements.
