The Pilot in Command is entrusted with ensuring the safety and efficiency of all assigned flight operations, maintaining the highest standards of security and quality. He or she reports to the Lead Captain and exercises final authority for the safe execution of each flight.
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the aircraft, determining optimal departure times and routes, and making informed decisions regarding flight cancellations based on weather conditions or other pertinent factors.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures throughout the flight.
- Implement necessary adjustments dictated by en route conditions, ensuring the flight's continued adherence to company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights in a safe, prudent manner, adhering to both industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all required trip paperwork in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure a thorough and complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Record all aircraft discrepancies in the aircraft discrepancy log, immediately reporting them to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Determine if the inoperative item can be deferred or needs repair.
- Confirm that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and is mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a complete working knowledge of all aircraft systems authorized for operation, including all emergency systems and associated procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, arranging for hangar storage as deemed necessary or as instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most current weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMs from an FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or ensure the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, enroute, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the applicable security program.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate this responsibility to the Second in Command.
- Impart knowledge and skills to the Second in Command to prepare them for assuming the duties of Pilot in Command in emergency situations or upon upgrading.
- Complete and submit the leg manifest to operations control prior to each departure.
- Complete and submit the End of Day (EOD) report to operations control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively support the open sharing of information on all safety issues and report all safety hazards and concerns.
- Immediately report any hazardous action, conduct, or event to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- Delegate duties as needed, while retaining ultimate responsibility.
- Fulfill other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Minimum Requirements:
- Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Obtain and maintain an FAA First Class Medical certificate.
- 4000 hours Total Fixed Wing flight time.
- 1500 hours Multi-Engine Land flight time.
- 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbojet flight time.
- 1500 hours Turbine flight time.
- 100 hours Night flight time.
- 75 hours Actual or Simulated Instrument flight time.
- 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel worldwide extensively, without restrictions.
- Valid driver's license.

Physical Demands:
The position requires the ability to use hands and fingers, stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds above their heads. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Work Environment:
The work environment includes both heavy maintenance and upscale customer areas. The noise level is typically moderate, with occasional high volume during aircraft arrivals and departures. The employee may be exposed to vibration and occasional fuel fumes. Willingness and ability to work in all types of weather conditions is required. The hangar environment may experience extreme hot and cold temperatures during certain times of the year.
Compensation Data:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $300,000 - $340,000. The actual salary will be determined based on experience, geographic location, and other relevant factors.
