Pilot in Command

Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Lead Captain, the Pilot in Command is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned flights. The primary focus is on ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and quality. As the final authority for the safe conduct of the flight, the Pilot in Command exercises command authority throughout the duration of each assigned flight.
Minimum Requirements:
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with appropriate Aircraft Type Rating.
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Minimum 4,000 hours of Total Fixed Wing flight experience.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of Multi-Engine Land flight experience.
- Minimum 2,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command experience.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of Turbojet flight experience.
- Minimum 1,500 hours of Turbine time.
- Minimum 100 hours of Night flight experience.
- Minimum 75 hours of Actual or Simulated Instrument flight experience.
- Minimum 5 years of aviation experience.
- Ability to work flexible schedules.
- Willingness and capability to travel extensively worldwide without restrictions.
- Valid driver's license.
Main Responsibilities:
- Safely operate aircraft, determining departure times and routes, and/or canceling flights based on weather or other conditions.
- Ensure strict adherence to all federal, local, and company regulations, policies, and procedures throughout the flight.
- Implement necessary changes en route to maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and rules.
- Conduct flights with safety and prudence, adhering to industry and company standards.
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork according to current procedures.
- Ensure complete understanding with the Second in Command regarding all aspects of the flight.
- Document all aircraft discrepancies on the aircraft discrepancy log and promptly report them to the Director of Maintenance or their designee. Determine, based on the approved MEL and guidance from the DOM or their designee, whether inoperative items can be deferred or require repair and complete the aircraft discrepancy log accordingly.
- Confirm that the flight crew reports for duty in proper attire and are mentally and physically fit for duty.
- Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all aircraft systems, including all emergency systems and associated procedures.
- Secure the aircraft after each flight, including arranging hangar storage as deemed necessary or instructed by company management.
- Obtain the most up-to-date weather reports, forecasts, and NOTAMS from a FAA flight service station or other authorized agency.
- File or arrange for the filing of a flight plan with the FAA or an ICAO state ATC facility.
- Analyze area, en route, and terminal charts for the intended landing airport and alternates.
- Perform the functions of the In TSA Flight Security Coordinator (ISC) under the provisions of the Twelve-Five Standard Security Program or Private Charter Standard Security Program, as applicable.
- Conduct required passenger safety briefings or delegate this responsibility to the Second in Command.
- Train and prepare the Second in Command to assume the duties of Pilot in Command in emergencies or when the Second in Command upgrades to Pilot in Command in that aircraft.
- Complete and submit the leg manifest to Ops Control prior to each departure.
- Complete and submit the End of Day (EOD) report to Ops Control upon completion of each flight day.
- Actively participate in the open sharing of information on all safety issues, reporting all safety hazards and concerns.
- Report any hazardous action, conduct, or event immediately to the Chief Pilot and Director of Safety.
- May delegate duties, but retain responsibility for those duties.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Represent Jet Aviation as a unified company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
