Role Summary

As the face of Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines, the Flight Attendant serves as an authentic and gracious host. This critical role demands in-depth knowledge of inflight service duties alongside comprehensive safety procedures that may be required during flight. A positive and approachable manner is essential, fostering positive interactions with both guests and fellow employees to contribute to an airline people love. This is a union represented position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensures full understanding and compliance with all safety regulations.
• Verifies that all safety equipment on the aircraft is in working order prior to flight.
• Greets passengers warmly, assists with seating assignments, carry-on baggage stowage, and ensures cabin security.
• Clearly explains and demonstrates the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures on the aircraft.
• Prepares and serves meals and beverages, including alcoholic selections.
• Effectively markets onboard products such as meals and inflight entertainment, processing sales efficiently using a mobile device.
• Manages and resolves passenger situations calmly and effectively during flight, including responding to medical emergencies.
• Answers passenger inquiries regarding flight operations and provides destination information.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the flight and cabin.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:

• A minimum of two years of experience in customer or community service is required.
• Demonstrated uncompromising dedication to safety is paramount.
• Candidates must meet specific aircraft dimension requirements related to jump seats, harnesses, cabin aisles, and emergency exits without modification.
• Ability to adhere strictly to the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
• Must demonstrate the physical capability to perform all required duties of a Flight Attendant.
• Willingness and ability to relocate to any of Horizon Air's flight attendant bases, including Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; or Everett, WA.
• Must be willing to serve alcohol as part of inflight service.
• Possession of basic computer literacy and comfort utilizing technology.
• Requires flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively is essential for this role.
• Must possess adaptability to perform a variety of duties and maintain effectiveness under stress.
• Able to attend and successfully complete four weeks of paid training in Portland, OR.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports will need appropriate travel documentation. Must be able to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English is required.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum education requirement.
• Minimum age of 21 years old at the time of application.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Additional Details

An audio assessment, approximately 40 minutes in length, will be required as part of the application process.

Training consists of four weeks of paid instruction held in Portland, OR.

The company maintains a specific tattoo policy for this role: No visible tattoos on the face, front of the neck, or chest are permitted. One tattoo the size of a quarter or smaller is allowed per hand. Tattoos in other areas cannot exceed the size of a credit card and must not be offensive. Employees may have one tattoo per arm, leg, foot, back of neck, or behind each ear. Tattoos on the back of the neck and behind the ears are only permitted if they are not visible when looking directly at a person. Tattoos may only be covered with a uniform piece or approved jewelry/watch; covering with makeup is not allowed.

Airport SIDA Badge Requirements:

This position requires working at an airport facility or maintenance hangar, necessitating the obtainment of a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority. Employees must maintain good standing to retain their SIDA badge. Failure to qualify for a SIDA badge or the revocation of a SIDA badge will result in termination of employment.

Compensation & Benefits:

The starting rate for this position is based on the collective bargaining agreement. The first year step rate is $20.66 per hour, subject to the terms of the latest collective bargaining agreement between Horizon Air and the AFA. Pay and benefits may vary based on factors such as company, location, hours worked, length of employment, and employment status.
