The Opportunity

The Flight Attendant serves as the welcoming face of Horizon Air, representing the esteemed standards of Alaska Airlines. This role requires an individual who embodies authenticity and graciousness, acting as a host while prioritizing safety. A successful candidate possesses an in-depth understanding of inflight service protocols and safety procedures, demonstrating the ability to perform duties effectively during flights. Maintaining a positive and approachable demeanor with both guests and fellow employees is essential to contributing to an airline guests love. This position is represented by a union.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures full understanding and compliance with all safety regulations.
• Verifies all safety equipment on the aircraft is in proper working order.
• Greets passengers warmly, assists with seating assignments, carry-on baggage stowage, and ensures cabin security.
• Provides clear explanations and demonstrations of safety equipment usage and emergency procedures.
• Prepares and serves meals and beverages, including alcoholic selections.
• Effectively promotes onboard products such as meals and inflight entertainment, processing sales transactions using a mobile device.
• Manages and resolves passenger situations calmly during flight, including medical emergencies.
• Answers passenger inquiries regarding flight operations and provides destination information.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of customer or community service experience.
• Unwavering dedication to safety.
• Ability to fit within specific aircraft dimensions (e.g., jump seat, harness without modification, cabin aisle, emergency exits).
• Capability to meet company grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
• Demonstrated physical ability to perform the essential duties of a Flight Attendant.
• Willingness and ability to relocate to any designated Flight Attendant base: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
• Willingness to serve alcohol.
• Basic computer literacy and comfort with technology.
• Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
• Possesses adaptability to handle a variety of duties and perform effectively under stressful conditions.
• Ability to attend four weeks of paid training in Portland, OR.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Non-U.S. passport holders must possess appropriate travel documentation. Must be able to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English.
• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Minimum age of 21 years old.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Additional Information

Applicants will be required to complete an audio assessment as part of the application process, which takes approximately 40 minutes.

Training consists of four weeks of paid instruction held in Portland, OR.

The company's tattoo policy allows no visible tattoos on the face, front of the neck, or chest. One tattoo per hand is permitted if it is the size of a quarter or smaller. Tattoos in other areas must not exceed the size of a credit card, be offensive, and are limited to one per arm, leg, foot, back of neck, or behind each ear. Tattoos on the back of the neck and behind the ears are only permitted if not visible when viewed directly. Tattoos may only be covered by a uniform piece or approved jewelry/watch; covering with makeup is not permitted.

Compensation & Benefits

This role's compensation is governed by the collective bargaining agreement. The first year step rate is $20.66 per contract hour.

Regulatory Information

Airport SIDA Badge Requirements: Employment requires obtaining and maintaining a SIDA badge issued by the airport authority. Failure to qualify for or loss of a SIDA badge will result in termination.
