As the public face of Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines, the Flight Attendant serves as an authentic and gracious host. This position requires in-depth knowledge of inflight service duties and safety procedures, which may need to be performed during flight. The Flight Attendant must demonstrate a strong desire to maintain a positive, approachable manner with guests and fellow employees, contributing to an airline people love. This is a union-represented position.

Key Duties:

• Ensuring full compliance with all safety regulations.
• Confirming all safety equipment on the aircraft is in working order.
• Greeting passengers, assisting with seating assignments, carry-on baggage stowage, and security.
• Explaining and demonstrating the use of safety equipment and emergency procedures.
• Preparing and serving meals and beverages, including alcohol.
• Effectively marketing onboard products and processing sales using a mobile device.
• Calmly resolving passenger situations during flight, including medical emergencies.
• Answering questions regarding flight operations and offering destination information.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Additional Details:

Candidates for this role will be required to complete an audio assessment during the application process, which takes approximately 40 minutes.

The position involves four weeks of paid training held in Portland, Oregon.

The company maintains a specific tattoo policy for Flight Attendants: No visible tattoos on the face, front of the neck, or chest are permitted. One tattoo the size of a quarter or smaller is allowed per hand. Tattoos in other areas cannot exceed the size of a credit card or be offensive. Employees may have one tattoo per arm, leg, foot, back of neck, or behind each ear. Tattoos on the back of the neck and behind the ears are only permitted if they are not visible when looking directly at the person. Tattoos may only be covered with a uniform piece or approved jewelry/watch; covering with makeup is not allowed.

Required Experience, Education & Skills:

• A minimum of 2 years of customer or community service experience is required.
• Candidates must possess an uncompromising dedication to safety.
• Body size must not exceed specific aircraft dimensions required for job duties (e.g., jump seat, harness use without modification, cabin aisle, and emergency exits).
• Ability to meet the company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards is essential.
• Candidates must demonstrate the physical ability to perform the duties of a Flight Attendant.
• Willingness and ability to relocate to any of the Flight Attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
• Willingness to serve alcohol is required.
• Basic computer literacy and comfort with technology are necessary.
• Candidates must be flexible to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively is required.
• Adaptability to perform a variety of duties effectively under stress is essential.
• Ability to attend four weeks of paid training in Portland, Oregon.
• Possession of and/or the ability to obtain a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States is required. Employees with non-U.S. passports will also need appropriate travel documentation. Ability to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada is mandatory.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Candidates must be a minimum of 21 years old.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Airport SIDA Badge Requirements:

Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar are required to obtain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority and maintain good standing to keep their SIDA badge. Failure to qualify for a SIDA badge or having a SIDA badge revoked will result in termination.

Compensation and Benefits:

The first-year step rate is $20.66 per hour, as defined by the collective bargaining agreement. Salary and benefits can vary by company, location, scheduled hours, length of employment, and employment status.
