Role Summary:
As the face of Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines, you will embody the spirit of hospitality, providing a gracious and authentic experience for our passengers. A thorough understanding of inflight service procedures, safety protocols, and emergency response is essential. You will be expected to maintain a positive and approachable demeanor, fostering a collaborative and welcoming atmosphere for both guests and colleagues. This position is represented by a union.
Key Duties:
- Comply with all safety regulations and ensure proper functioning of safety equipment on board.
- Greet passengers, assist with seating assignments, carry-on baggage stowage, and security procedures.
- Explain and demonstrate safety equipment usage and emergency procedures for both aircraft and passengers.
- Prepare and serve meals and beverages, including alcoholic beverages.
- Effectively market onboard products, such as meals and inflight entertainment, using mobile devices for sales processing.
- Calmly resolve passenger situations during flight, including medical emergencies.
- Answer questions regarding flight operations and provide destination information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Details:
- Training will be conducted in Portland, Oregon, consisting of four (4) weeks of paid training.
- Tattoo policy: No visible tattoos on the face, front of neck, or chest. One tattoo the size of a quarter or smaller is allowed per hand. Tattoos in other areas cannot be larger than a credit card or be offensive. Employees can have one tattoo per arm/leg/foot/back of neck/behind each ear. Tattoos on the back of neck and behind the ears are only permitted if they are not visible when looking directly at a person. Tattoos may only be covered with a uniform piece or approved jewelry/watch (covering with makeup is not allowed).
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:
Required:
- Minimum of two (2) years of customer or community service experience.
- Uncompromising dedication to safety.
- Ability to meet company's grooming, uniform, and appearance standards.
- Ability to demonstrate the physical capacity to perform flight attendant duties.
- Willingness to relocate to one of our flight attendant bases: Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Medford, OR; Boise, ID; Spokane, WA; Anchorage, AK; Everett, WA.
- Willingness to serve alcohol.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with technology.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
- Adaptability to perform a variety of duties and perform effectively under stress.
- Ability to attend four (4) weeks of paid training in Portland, OR.
- Possession of a current passport with unlimited access in and out of the United States. Employees with non-U.S. passports will also need appropriate travel documentation. Must be able to fly unrestricted in and out of Canada.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
Airport SIDA Badge Requirements:
Employees working at an airport or maintenance hangar will be required to obtain a SIDA badge provided by the airport authority and maintain good standing in order to keep their SIDA badge. Failure to qualify or maintain a SIDA badge will result in termination. Please review the SIDA Badge Requirements document for a comprehensive overview.

Salary Details:
- First year step rate: $20.55 (per contract)
